I doubt we'll accept anything until every avenue explored. We don't have to sell. We're Brighton, and we don't have to sell a centre back for £50m to the likes of Arsenal.

What a time to be alive.

Ps. I think we will sell, but I'm pretty certain we are getting the deal we want, not the one we are financially obligated to take.

£50M - or maybe a tad more - 90% up-front - would be an acceptable offer, I think. I think we owe it to Ben not to go for the first offer though. Even if they don't offer more (or much more) than Arsenal, there are better outcomes for Ben. Starting with Liverpool and ManU; Citeh he'd have to fight for a place, but worth a shot. Or, of course, somewhere aabroad (but I don't follow much football out side the UK) might be even better.
No chance of 90% upfront anyway who cares where he goes as long as the valuation is met, we need to invest in the squad ASAP.

:lolol:

I may be going out on a limb here but....I am sure that White may well emerge as a fairly decent defender who may accumulate 5-10 England caps, but he's not exactly shown that he is the ****ing Patric Viera of Brighton and Hove Albion, and if some dribblers (I'm talking saliva, here) want to spaff multo multo dollar to singe him then, well, here fido, fido, sit. Beg. Good boy.

Personally, I think he is a very special player, and I want to see him with us for one more season.

I doubt it two seasons running we haven’t managed to get our top targets over the line.

Foden and Dias weren't our top targets.

......... and no, they aren't this season either. We may or may not get our top targets this season, but so what? We've got a good squad, with young players who are imroving and will be better than they were last season. and more youngsters knocking on the door. As someone on another thread somewhere said, this is a good time for a Brighton fan to be alive. Maybe not you though .......................

Yea it's a pity we follow the only team in the PL, no all UK league, no in fact the only team in the whole of Europe, who haven't got their top targets for 2 seasons in a row.

God I just don't know how we can follow such a badly run club in a crap stadium with no training facilities or any youth development set up at all.

Why on earth would he want to go to feckin’ Everton? That’s worse than Arsenal.

If he's anything like me, it'll be because Rafa's beard gives him the horn.

To be fair, at least Everton's owner has a sense of ambition, it's just not been matched by actual competence over the last few years. I think the Everton fan base has a lower proportion of entitled prats than Arsenal's as well, even if that's largely a side effect of being significantly less successful about 15+ years ago.

If he goes to Everton he will play. Benitez first signing? Bound to be first on the team sheet. Everton have a billionaire owner like Arsenal. Difference is he is prepared to spend big. Could be exciting times for the Toffees.

Haven't they been spending big for ages though? I guess sooner or later they might 'click'.

Anyway, part of me hopes that if we sell Ben and Biss, we don't spend the proceeds. It would be nice to see our alleged debt decrease.

Oh transfer fees. It seems that installments are the norm. What makes me chuckle is the dilemma Beaky has with Dibley. Because of the Manure sell on %, I understand that he couldn't accept The Arse's offer because they would see the first chunk got to ManUre, so sell their own man team for a big amount yet bank nothing for ages. Ha ha, what a mess.

If he stays at Brighton he plays; under a lauded, progressive English coach. Our club, with a fair wind, can compete with Arsenal & Everton next season. White’s issue will be the upcoming World Cup and whether #teamslikeBrighton can compete against the football snobbery and the media NOISE produced by the biggest English clubs. The answer of course is that Brighton cannot. Yet. This is the only reason White may go to an Everton or Arsenal because in football terms he’d be best served staying with us - getting us into the upper echelons of the PL and then taking his place at the very top table. He’s that good.

Apart from the bigger stadium and new one on the way, the world renowned manager, the higher league positions, the wage increase, Richarlison, Calvert Lewin, Pickford, Digne, James Rodriguez, Yerry Mina and the owner willing the splurge a fortune to progress the club in a short space of time.....I see no reasons why you would move from Brighton to little Everton

.

I’m not entirely sure actually, but isn’t our debt just to Tony? Obviously that’s still debt but that’s not the severity as actual debt via bank loans and such.

Typical Arsenal offer low money (supposedly £42m + add ons) and then Everton gazzump them with £50m + addons - may get £60m yet

I’ll be very surprised if he does go to Everton. Yes, of course they’re a bigger club than us. But they’re a club that doesn’t really go anywhere. A conveyor belt of managers. Benitez won’t even be there in a year. People who say they spend money, well since I’ve watched football Everton have always spent lots of money. But they never go anywhere.

And we have a far better infrastructure. Owner and manager than Everton and maybe even Arsenal.

I’d hope Ben would go for a huge step up if he does leave. A powerhouse like Liverpool, City, Man U, Chelsea, PSG or such.

I wonder if the Everton bid is a bit of a play to their fans (who seem to be none too happy about the whole Rafa thing) that they actually are intent on progressing

The bottom line is that that Arsenal, Everton or any other likely bidders are going to more than likely at least double his wages. We can try to pretend that he’s better off with us for ‘footballing reasons’ or whatever, but as well as not being necessarily the case, now he’s a fully established PL player he’ll cash in and we won’t stand in his way. What Tony will be doing is enjoying RINSING every last penny out of his destination club (we’ll never know though - guarantee the fee will be ‘undisclosed’)

The arrogance of some of the Arsenal lot on social media is hilarious……as bad as Leeds last summer.

Mr Bloom has stated he expects his team to finish 3 places behind the very highest Everton could reach.

As trajectories go, esp now that they have made a 'Hodgson' signing to lead them back to 7th, I see no reasons why you would move from Brighton to little Everton.

Don't say that, I can't cope with us having a further 12 months of us looking ever more noddy while opposition fans compete with each other to get the most outlandish opinion retweeted over here.

Pretty much 100%, yes. Interest free and unsecured too. Suspect current player valuations are significantly under-represented in the latest accounts too.
