Sort of agree with the fella you replied to, 50 million is an incredible amount of money for his one season in the PL.
He did well, he's a great prospect, but he was still caught out a few times ball watching, was turned inside and out by Rashford and Foden........ Not to say that he wont go on to show real value for that amout of money, and he is really talented, but right now, its still an incredible bit of business by us I think....... Its about the maximum we could ever get I reckon, Arsenal are the ones taking a fair sized risk.
Do I think he's worth 50 million for what he's done so far? no not really yet..... its all about age/future potential, if he hits the heights many expect it willl be a decent and fair enough price fo the gooners, but that has to happen first and Arsenal are gambling a fair premium that he will.
For the Albion, for so many reasons, selling him for that amount is a cracking piece of business.
Put it another way then… would you have sold Ben for Leeds £35m bid? I suspect you wouldn’t.
I genuinely think it’s a good deal for both sides. Arsenal get a top young international player with his best years ahead of him to build around, who’s played in two good footballing sides (this is between us, let’s not tell their fans…) us and Leeds.
We get a completely fair offer, for a position we’re very healthily stacked in with young talent, and we start to fulfil Tony’s initial vision of becoming self sustaining. I suspect the deal we got probably exceeds £50m a fair bit. £55m was mentioned a few weeks ago by a few sources and we’re hearing today we put in a sale clause.
It’s a sensational deal for us. But equally I do think Ben is a brilliant young player. Perfect for Potter ball in many ways. He had a shaky start with us but then aside from a couple of blips went on from strength to strength. Pretty amazing considering it was his first season in the PL.

That wouldn’t be enough. Well maybe Dunk now, but certainly not Van Dijk (£75m in 2018) and Maguire (£80m in 2019).
£50m is probably fair market value for a young elite footballer who’s just broken into the England set up.
Genuine question for those who continue to beat this drum, why do you focus on that particular passage of play and ignore the magnificent piece of defending earlier in the game where White tackled Foden who was clean in on goal?

I had the pleasure of watching him play right in front of me for the first half of the City game.
He was exceptional.
During Euro2020 Ben Foden was quoted as saying that he was surprised at how good BW was.
The reason Leeds were so keen to sign him was because they'd seen him in training for a year,
The reason we wouldn't sell is because we have been monitoring Ben for 3 seasons and we were fully aware what his potential is.
£50m is not an excessive amount for him.
Terms are hardly likely to be a problem, are they? He will double or treble his already considerable wages and his agent will be hopping up and down in delight. It's whether Brighton agree to sell him, and/or at what price that will be the cruncher.
Agree with that. Ben White is a better player than several on here seem to realise. A good deal for us, yes. Incredible, no.
I think it's a good deal for both Arsenal and Us if it is as reported (50-55 + sell on). I think we all know where we expect him to be in 3 years time, but what if he doesn't continue to develop the next 3 years at the same rate he has developed in the last two ?
I believe there is still an element of risk that is being taken on by Arsenal.
The idea that Arsenal have got a bargain is partly based on the notion that he will continue to improve at The Emirates at the same rate as over the past few years. But will he? What is there about Arsenal's defending under Arteta or in any recent seasons that suggests that there are any coaches there that help him develop?
Well Ben Foden might have said it too -
oops
