Blimey - MOTD coverage clearly edited by an Arsenal fan. Why did they show that Minteh challenge? Didn't show us pressing for a winner or our late chances.

Maybe not the best game but surely the talking point of the day. Bizarre
Also a game between two teams with a hundred per cent record. No analysis of the match either.

Murphy: "I think Declan deserved the 2nd yellow card."
Hart: "Technically he deserved the yellow."
Lineker....mutter mutter...."and well done Brighton as well."

No analysis of the goals or rest of the match, just the incident.
But that's what you get when you put the game on 5th giving a couple of minutes at most for the pundits.

Lineker pro Rice.
Murphy spot on.

I wouldn't say he was spot on. He said Veltman wasn't trying to take a quick free-kick, he just kicked Rice. There is no way he was trying to kick Rice. He was either a) trying a quick free-kick down the line or b) trying to take a quick free kick to then moan at Rice for not getting out of the way of the ball.

To be fair, I wouldn't put anything past Veltman.

They all guessed (they didn’t say it was cert) that Velts meant to kick Rice.

Anyway, I was referring to the second yellow for Rice. Lineker reckons a ref should take account that someone’s already on a yellow his “The game’s gone mad” no feeling for the sport jibe.

Nedum Onuoha on ths clip calls out Arteta's bullshit.

Let's cut away the whataboutism that's being used to obscure a very straightforward situation:

1) Yes, Joel Veltman is a master of the dark arts. Yes, he was trying to get Rice a second yellow by taking a quick free kick when he realised that Rice wasn't retreating;
2) By kicking the ball away, Rice committed an obvious bookable offence, doing all Veltman's work for him. He was a mug for getting at all involved when he knew was on a yellow;
3) The Joao Pedro decision in the first half is irrelevant. The rules don't allow for referees to trade off incorrect or debatable decisions throughout the match;
4) Arteta is not really asking for consistency. He simply can't argue that Rice didn't commit a bookable offence, so tries to widen the question to something that he can argue.

Ayari had a great chance to pop the winner in, I don’t know if it’s shown on the highlights, I haven’t seen them.

Unfortunately the shot went back across goal toward Raya, rather than to the opposite post. I like Ayari, he gets in good positions and his shots aren’t wild. Those are going to start going in at some point.
Ayari spoke to the daily papers after the game. He came across very well and said he has been working hard to make the most of the opportunities that Fab has been giving him. Admits he should have scored. It'll be on the Albion website at some point on Monday.

"MOTD is unbalanced dogshit again" shocker. I'm staggered I tell you.
This is our third game of the season and the second where their highlights package has included a 'chance' against us that wasn't really a chance because it was obviously offside: McNeil's hitting the post and Odegaard's today. As it seems that we are playing the offside trap under FH and that linos don't seem to bother doing their jobs any more, this is going to irritate me for the whole season. I'm just mentioning it again to get it out of my system, then I'll leave it and we can all just take it as read that there's no time to show any of our actual chances, because we have to watch these Schroedinger's cat chances instead..... and breathe.

Good summary.

If you watch the ball closely before Ayari has the shot it’s spinning like crazy making it difficult to control without taking a touch. He had to strike it unfortunately it was the wrong side.

In an Arsenal team with a fair few 'objectionable' players, there's something about Odegaard that really grinds my gears
They’re a truly horrible bunch, led by a truly horrible, useless, Grecian 2000-overusing man.
