I suppose with inflation in Argentina running at over 140% and 40% of Argentinians living in povety, you can understand why people vote for change. Plans to ditch the peso for the USD and slash public spending. Brazil just got rid of their right wing Govt - now Argentina elects one.

because government promised to fix all their problems with copious spending the country cant afford. pretty common theme in South America, spend lots, print money, currency devalues and rampant inflation, default on loans.

I have selfish reasons for not wanting this wally anywhere near power and that is his plan to ditch the peso in favour of the us dollar.

Recently my son was very kind enough to give the ageing Mr and Mrs Shingle his air miles and we are going back packing around Argentina for 6 weeks in January and February and part of the reason of choosing Argentina was that they have a 'blue dollar' currency rate that although not legal is tolerated, so instead of getting the official rate of 400 to the pound you actually get 1100 or so on black market, making Argentina very affordable for such a long trip to the said Mr and Mrs Shingle.

apparently he's pragmatic, speaks about needing a dialogue, talk to the Falklanders. sounds like kicking it in the long grass. he knows they dont have the capability - they didnt before so how would they now with less airforce and navy. there's far more pressing issues at home.
