Didn’t spend last summer? We spent £100m! And also added two expensive wage wise free transfers and one very expensive loan that RDZ pushed for.

Whether we signed the right players/positions in the end is another matter but we certainly spent.

The squad seems to be unbalanced still.

We have a tonne of young players, many of whom clearly have something about them but not quite at the level or the consistency needed.

We have a few old heads who seem to really be on the down slope now.

Who is there in the middle in the mid-late 20s who is ready to take over that mantle? March and Mitoma injured most of the season. Dahoud not what was expected.

Fair point. Evidence that £100m doesn't go very far at this level if you spend it badly!

We got 4 players for £20m each, give or take. Only one of those has been any good this season. None of them addressed gaps in CM or right back.

All the freebies have all been a waste of wages. It's been a perfect example of a false economy, I'd rather they spend £80m combined on a CM and right back and then promoted from the youth for everywhere else.

I am incredulous how people have turned on Roberto. He has done a fantastic job over 20 months, best ever season, fa cup semi final narrowly losing, winning europa leage group beating all 4 teams Ajax Atens Marseilles Roma being midtable this season nowhere near trouble all season, having our 3 best players sold and not replaced Caicedo, McAlister, Trossard, a nightmare injury list losing key players for long periods.

I'm still not sure if it is RDZ's fault or if it is the injuries and the lack of transfer spend. Next season will be interesting as I can only imagine that he will be given quite a large transfer budget to spend (hopefully not on expensive loans). If he can't then turn things around (with new blood and uninjured players) then he will be sacked by October.

Tactics all wrong last night, Walker needed a pacy winger to stop him coming forward as much as he did last night. Adingra would have done he spent his time over the half way line receiving quality kicks from his keeper. Draw them in with no outlet seemed to be the order of the day I counted eight players pressing our box at one point that means if we tried to find Welbeck or Pedro further up the pitch with a long kick we are 2 v 2 heading towards their goal. I’m not sure what the tactics were last night it was a mess. Not keeping Walker busy was insane we gifted them a win with those tactics.

Maybe RDZ is actually worried about our form / his job / the media talk about him getting the push, and decided we were probably going to get beat by City so best to keep as many players fresh for Bournemouth, which will be a hard game but easier to win than City.

Questioning the intensity of training given how most injuries have not happened during games is OK I hope? That IS down to the manager imo.

I’ve been RDZ cautious for a long time. Having an Italian girlfriend has taught me a lot.

But also I’m tired of the season, too. Just said it in another post but the Wolves cup defeat exposed a lot of our problems and that’s just working its way through the NSC machine in real time now. Rdz should stay. I like him and I think this 1/3 of a season of misery will be good for all of us.

Remember we’ve missed March, a lot. (Many ppl would never have said that a season or two ago). And Mitoma. Big Ev is learning and the squad has been stripped. Happy for RDZ to stay.

Simply, that we really aren’t very good.

I’ve been embarrassed being a Brighton fan most of my life, but that’s a different story. Just to give the flip side, RDZ has played his part in whatever turning has happened. Regardless, football has nothing to do with loyalty anymore - even clubs aren’t loyal to their own fans these days - so not sure why gratitude should be shown towards RDZ. Besides, it’s all about the moment IMO and Elite football is insanely rewarded to the point most of us would put up with being spat at; never mind criticism (Ten Haig?!) at the weekly press conference. Nah, RDZ is a big boy and sure he can handle. Less sure he deserves more slack, his results this season are worsening and have been very poor of late.

I can say with certainty that two of the most important weren’t. March caught his studs on Man City’s turf. Gilmour was injured on the pitch in Scotland duty.

Mitoma was played unfit by Japan and had a back issue after one game back. Pedro lashed out stupidly at Luton.

Can you tell me how you know all the others were in training?
