No far from it. Brentford were prime Burnley last night, f*** that thanks.

When was the last time we had a settled midfield? This run has coincided with Welbeck and Hinchelwood injuries and compounded with FH being forced to change the two CMs virtually every game. Hinch gets through so much work. Welbeck adds much needed composure and calmness.

Well we got 4 points but xG gives us 12. So missing welbeck who will no doubt be missing for ages, so quite worrying.

We have 3 issues with the squad, no right back cover, slow centre backs and no welbeck cover.

Need to loan out enciso, Ferguson, sell lamptey, moder and Adingra and bring in a striker, right back and centre back who are at least 24 years old to have a good balanced squad, doubt we will do it in Jan since season is over though.

It’s unfortunate timing that we’ve had our shittest period of the season during a run of games when we should have made hay after a decent start to consolidate a top half finish, and including our shittest game of all being against Palace of all teams

No right back cover? We do, they’re just injured. Hinshelwood and Kadoiglu.
No cover for Welbeck? We do, he’s just out of form. Ferguson.

Agree that we need a new CB though, must be young with a bit of pace.

How do you come to that conclusion when last night we had 28 shots or whatever and none troubled the keeper. That’s poor skill / mentality from the players

It’s exactly the same argument we used to have when Potter went on his possession but no end product runs!! All the apologists have started to bring out Xg stats again which we never heard under RDZ because the goals suddenly rained in. This is not about Brentford, this goes back many games now. We can’t play well for 2 halfs under this fella. We have one decent half at most (first 20 mins yesterday) and then default to passing the ball around in front of the defence. By the end of the game the players looked like they had no ideas left and Brentford looked like the team that were going to nick it!

I don’t think shit, I think improving - it feels like we are in a bit of a cycle:

- buy young inexperienced players - season 1 - struggle / win some but scrappy wins
- players improving - season 2 - lose less / not necessarily more wins but more draws
- players improve - season 3 - more wins / gain Europe / sell players

Repeat.

Seasons 1 2 3 might be 1 2 or 1 2 3 4 - I think RDZ leaving/sacked will make it more likely 4 seasons.

With FAB it feels like we are back to 1.

Take the manu home win, we won but it was very scrappy, could have easily gone the other way.

The important thing is the first step is still a top ten place, which isn’t bad tbh.

Watched last night with Spurs son-in-law. He said he would have Dunk in a heartbeat. Don’t get the grief some people dish out on here to him. Mind you Spurs would have any fit CB just now! :D

We're just out of form, nothing more nothing less. When you're going through a rough patch it always looks as though you're a bit shit but it's just the way it goes. The luck doesn't go with you and the ball doesn't bobble into the net, it bobbles just past and shots don't go in off the post they hit the post and bounce out. Watching Man City and in particular Haaland it looked the other day as though he'd never kicked a football before yet we all know both Man City and Haaland are (in football terms) classy teams just going through a bad patch. Keep the faith.

Firstly, I really want this to work for Fab. He comes across as a decent guy. But we have a young side, I just wonder whether having such a young and inexperienced coach (at the higher level here or abroad) is the stumbling block currently. It's easier managing a team when things are going well and your team is bouncing with confidence but he's admitted himself that having a team in a slump is new to him. He's learning too and it's all a little bit of an experiment. This older head coming in to support Fab can't come quick enough in my view. Tactically he's outhought every game and his subs always make us worse, even if they seem positive ones...

What's the answer..? I don't know. Keeping the faith I guess.

Done a Frexit, now in London
Enough time has passed now for Fab to get his ideas to the squad, last nights team was about as strong as it gets, maybe only Danny would have started if he carried on his fine form so no excuses with injuries there.
what Fabs done is he’s kept the suicidal defending of RDZ but addd a goal keeper, yet reverted to the limp dicked attack of potter. I’m failing to see what Bobby Z brings to the table as our lack of goals started around the time he did too, hopeful…
if we finish 10-15th I think thats fair. Anything above 10th would be an overachievemen.
Spending 200mil on kids who mostly play the same positions and the only seasoned pros we have aren’t real leaders or perpetual sick notes didnt work.
My Brentford mate said it last night, Brighton are a charity, we give visiting teams a whole stand, give them a nice welcome, their beers and wish them good luck often gifting them points for the trip home.

I wonder whether we've managed to play 3 consecutive games with the same 11 yet?
It doesn't feel like it.

The midfield pair seems to get swapped constantly.
A quick run through of line ups show that the only pair that have played 2 games consecutively is Ayari and Hinshelwood.
They've been great, but they definitely wouldn't be my first pick for starting centre-mids

I think the manager is struggling with having such a deep squad and giving each player enough minutes.

When fully fit our midfield options are:
Milner
Weiffer
O'Riley
Baleba
Ayari
Hinshelwood
Moder

Moder aside, that's a tough call to make, but he needs to make his mind up, which is the best starting line up and stick with it.

90% was OK but shit finishing. Oh and Bart needs to speed it up, his ball rolling largely pointless
Got there much earlier than normal due to the lack of traffic so watched the full wa up session. They actually practiced Bart receiving the ball, the ball roll using the right foot and the redistribution to either wing for a good 10 mins before corners and shots!

What are we transitioning from, an identifiable structure with a clear game plan? What are we transitioning to? We only started with 2 players that weren’t here last season, why is it a rebuild when fundamentally it’s the same squad plus a load of wingers.

We ended last season in 2024 with 4 wins, 6 draws and 9 loses in the Premier League.

I'm not sure what our identifiable game plan was at this point. To lose?
