To be honest as much as I pity the opening poster, a Palace fan who has over 1500 posts on a Brighton internet forum follows in a very close second. Still, each to their own I suppose.

I am surprised as a regular poster on here for years I fully expected the influx of Palace trolls to reduce with promotion. But I am seeing the reverse and far more of them are joining just to gloat, which in my view reflects badly on them. It is becoming harder for Albion fans to have a thread without a Palace fan sticking their two penny worth in. I got to thinking, that now they are this big powerful Premiership side why are they not on their rivals message boards in the Premiership.
But if you ask yourself that question, I found it hard to compare Palace with any side that they could seriously be a rival too in that division. I suppose they could be approaching the level of Fulham and perhaps they should all disappear over there now.

A lot of the Palace fans say they post on here because they know (and acknowledge) that NSC is one of the best boards around. The vast majority of them make very sensible points, just because they're not all complimentary and not what we want to hear doesn't invalidate them. Obviously a tiny minority troll for the reaction, but then some NSC-ers (no names, no pack drill) DO embarrass the rest of us by rising to it and over-reacting.

But the Albion has never only been about Palace - it is better that we can discuss/chat/laugh about stuff without a Palace view. It is just dull and seems to have the impact of making it a more angry, less amusing place.

But the ones we are sticking our ore in are threads about palace ? It would be like starting a thread about brighton on hol/bbs and not expecting any input from brighton fans ???

If only that was what actually happens.

The other result is that the more excitable Albion posters create anti-Palace threads in response and so it goes on. Individual posters are ok - it is the accumulative impact. I appreciate that may not be what you want to hear - but that is an Albion perspective. You make it a less enjoyable place.

On some threads perhaps. But this thread is specifically about Palace and was started in a pejorative and derogatory manner, surely they can be allowed to join in and maybe refute the points in equally robust terms?

You're right about Brighton not being all about Palace though. This season I'm hoping we can forget all about them and concentrate on our REAL historical and traditional rivals ........ Bournemouth.

Bournemouth are no more our rivals than Luton, Reading or Orient. We were only ever interested in each other in the mid 70s. Luton before that, Orient in the 90s (doldrum years) and Reading in fits and starts.

Palace are CLEARLY our rivals, with Pompey a distant second (and Pompey don't care anything like as much about us as some of us do about them)

.

I agree with this and is why I am amazed with the amount the Palace trolls has increased. You would think they would want to be on the Man U boards telling them how they will repeat the result of their last visit there.

I have no problem Palace posting on the Palace threads - the number of threads is a bit of an issue. But some of the Palace fans can't help themselves posting on non-Palace threads - then the thread just goes to shit. And there seems to be a lot of those. And it seems that reporting posts is pointless - so there is limited deterrent.

Anyway, as you say, back to our traditional rivals: "SuperMac, SuperQueer, how many bums have you had this year ?". Are we still allowed to sing that ?

Bleedin' JCL. You should have been there when the Bournemouth Boot Boys tried to take the North Stand.

(And I didn't think you'd be the first one to bite!)

Of course not, it's homophobic. (But oh yes, those were the days!)

I suppose it is the nature of the beast unfortunately, A thread could be started in light heart or just general to give information but because of our rivalry they will always have some form of angst to them from some posters. Shame really as some posters take off there red n blue/white n blue tinted specs and realize there is more to it in the general football world then rivalry.

I'm well aware that they "took" the North Stand, prior to segregation, by simply turning up two hours early. The point is that you ALWAYS bang on about Palace not being proper rivals, and it's only because your dad is a Palace fan.

Sorry, but they are.

I've always accepted that most Brighton fans see Palace as our main rivals and last season I was more than happy to go along with it (seeing as we were in the same division which in itself is a rarity over the last thirty years). The St Patrick's Day Massacre was easily the best single result of last season, yes even more than beating Newcastle in the Cup. Equally you'll have to accept that some of us DO remember life before the Palace rivalry and sometimes like to remind ourselves of it.

I've been singing SuperMac SuperQueer for the last five minutes. I'll probably be arrested soon.
