Are labour voters the worst losers in the history of the world?

What a joke. Are you having a laugh? The right control the press, the funds and everything else in this country. It is far more likely that people had a last minute change of heart as they began to fear a Labour/SNP coalition.

Why is that far more likely?

You didn't give any reasoning.

When it was reported there was a large number of undecided, was when I realised the tories would win. People who are undecided just before an election are probably comfortable, and willing to keep things as they are.

We clearly have different interpretations of 'fact'.

Interesting.

Although it is clear and admitted that they switched to campaigning in the last weeks to 'vote labour get SNP', the only contested issue about whether the posters statement was a fact seems to be whether this is scaremongering or not.

Yes, I did. Read the post. It is far more likely that the fear of Labour/SNP coalition pushed them to change their mind last minute. Much more likely than your very unlikely idea that Tory voters feel ashamed in polls where they won't be identified.

To be fair a party that puts forward Ed Milliband and Ed Balls as the future of this Country deserves everything they get

Sorry, I can't find any logical reasoning that led you to that conclusion. I completely disagree with you.

You just don't like the idea of being in an ideological minority.

I think it far more likely from the start that the opinion polls were fundamentally wrong with some aspect of the algorithm that they use. I don't recall massive swings away from Labour to the Tories from them in the very last days before the election. If the fear factor had crept in, in he last few weeks there should have been a trend. There wasn't.

That was just part of their campaign. To ignore the fact that many people voted Tory because they believe the tories will do a better job with the economy is naive. If the Labour party feel the same as you, they'll probably fail to reform their party and we'll get another Tory government in 5 years.

It's just about certain that some people voted Tory because they were worried about the SNP - but that's because Labour weren't capable of getting a majority on their own, or even with the Lib Dems. Without the fear of the SNP, it's highly likely that the Tories would still have been the largest party, so it's not a fact to say that they only won because of the fear of the SNP.

"There is no final victory. There is no final defeat. There is just the same battle. To be fought over and over again. So toughen up. Bloody toughen up!"

Tony Benn

That seems very applicable to supporting The Albion. Maybe it should be a banner headline on NSC giving pause to anyone starting a thread after a defeat.

This is why PR has got to be, in my opinion, the single most important issue in our democracy. Without it, our democracy is sick.

don't talk about PR as the most important issue, unless you mean part of a complete root and branch overhaul of the electoral system. PR is just a counting method, if you don't change what you are counting then its going to end up just as flawed.

It's far more logical than your idea. The polls aren't usually that inaccurate.

I don't care about being in an ideological minority. I care about the country being ruled by a party that was voted for by just over 35% of voters and who ran a very negative campaign.

I am not bitter at all. There was a reason why Labour lost the election, and that needs to be addressed in the next five years. I am not someone who believes, like so many others, that the conservatives or conservative voters are evil. Though i would say that many right wingers on here have been bad winners.

Labour need a right nasty bar steward as a leader someone who can fight just as dirty as the tories, some who can lie through their teeth but still sound plausable.
the tories in Eastbourne fought dirty after buying a wrap around for the local paper (lets see just how that effects their coverage)
but the tories could not manage to win over the electorate in the council elections.
lets hope all those who voted tory don't start whingeing about the hospitals here as it will fall on deaf ears no doubt and all that worrying about the scots hoards coming across the border with their silly demands will come to nought as they will still be there in parliament giving dave a hard time because they are entitled to ( think dave might regret going up there and campaigning for the NO vote)
Labour will live to fight another day ....................but from now on please don't stand back, get stuck into them

To be fair you need to get out more then. It's far easier being a leftie here. We dont have any UKIP style parties and 2 of our 3 major parties are full of left winger whingers.

The fact that you refer to all left wingers as whingers confirms my assumptions about white Australians.

I quite agree, but looking how their different campaign messages impacted the polls. It was the late and last message, about the fear of SNP calling the shots in westminster that made the difference.

It seems to me that the SNP wouldn't of had the power that many think, as they would have been shooting themselves in the foot weakening labours position. The SNP need a labour government to get anywhere. It seems clear who would of had the power in that relationship. However admittedly this is just conjecture and opinion.
