That's not even keeping pace with boat arrivals with 50k expected this year not including over stayers, and then there is the legal levels. So no I am not pleased.
80% of asylum claims are granted. They don’t get deported.

No, but it won't be their fault. There's alot of world trend stuff that basically overrides anything a domestic government can do. All of Europe has not really grown so much in the past 15 years. The US has sailed ahead because it could fix its energy costs lower and it does not have an issue with wage growth generally. Add into that war, tensions within europe, worldwide aneamic growth, effects of brexit and many of our services and infrastructure are so behind.

The Tories are probably overblamed for stuff too - but there were key decisions that they made which they are cubable for. Austerity is one of them, Brexit vote another and then further choice of hard Brexit.

I am no Liz Truss fan, and she certainly went too far, but alot of the effects of her actions were basically just brought up a few months. We were getting those interest rate rises and huge inflation regardless.

Anyway - point being - the overarching worldwide outlook is grim, and Europe's even worse. They'll have no chance on immigration because Russia basically control the Sahara now, so they will send more migrants up. The restructuring of the economy they have attempted with this budget is ok, but f*** me they have lost the PR battle.

I’m guessing you mean ‘Yeltsin’ because Loony Labour and TTK are leading us into WWIII against Russia et al which we can’t possibly win because Labour have gutted our defence capabilities …I’ll get the Ouija board out

Sorry wrong thread - 🙂

Whenever I see sensible people wasting breath replying to the hard of thinking and bitter twisted old tories, my message is the same.

I salute your indefatigability.

Oh I think he got my irony and piss take - I’m was just having some light hearted fun - as you do you know - and I am probably on his ignore list anyway as he hasn’t replied to any of my responses to his posts on this thread or the WW3 one. 😀

I find it odd that Labour-haters seem to get so much joy predicting the demise of the UK and the misery and suffering they appear to hope will ensue.

Very strange indeed. The far left were happier losing in opposition under Magic Grandpa than actually being in government and having to sacrifice some of their ideals

Indeed. Albeit I was thinking more of the disaffected right wingers who are praying for a Starmer fail, when I posted my comment.

(Meanwhile the extreme left are mainly obsessing about bringing to justice anyone who was nice to Tony Blair for war crimes by association. Weirdos.)

I've historically been on the fence when it comes to supporting any political party, so I was quite prepared to give Labour a chance to win me over. Thus far, they're not really giving me much confidence. As another poster said above, they're losing the PR war all over the place at the moment - be it farmers, pensioners, some public sector workers.

Never thought I'd see the day when you were quoting George Galloway! :lolol:
I have used that quote many times. Is it facetiousness? Not sure. But I find it mildly amusing to use it.

Does this mean the return of the old style buffet cars where a steward would cook you up a fresh bacon sammich on boarding?

Then a few tinnies and a game of 9 handed spoof on the way home?

Happy days.

I must say that Labour really aren't great at PR. WFP and IHT dominating the news - whereas this, broadly supported by all - I didn't even know it was passing through the Lords. Is this ALL the railway stuff - or just the tracks and so on?
I think the majority of the country support it our trains are overpriced and badly run.

But unless it ends with much much lower ticket costs people will end up being meh about it.
