Arda Guler is the next best thing to come out of Turkish football since....... Arda (Turan) and we all know how that went. I would be surprised if he doesn't go back to Fener because he's treated like a prince there and national identity is a big thing. He could be another Pascal Gross type with more speed and creativity but probably not the classic Gross move... if he keeps his head. Turkish footballers do not have a good history in this area, when going abroad. Tugay is the one big exception and he spent years in Scotland before Blackburn and was also basically kicked out of the Turkey national team before coming to Scotland.

He's a risk but he could be amazing.

It's weird, Turkish Footballers generally don't do well outside of Turkey. And yet Mesut Özil, İlkay Gündoğan and Mehmet Scholl, all Germans of Turkish decent went on to be world class.

Maybe this guy would be better suited to the Bundesliga?

Has anyone else watched his highlight reels and thought "Buonanotte"?

The "Yellow Canaries"

- what, as opposed to those blue ones ?
Well there are white, grey, black, brown, orange and red ones?

Seems a bargain release fee given how highly he’s talked about. Agree with other’s though that much like Russian players, or quite a few Mexicans, they do great in home league where they earn more than most other leagues in the world and like to keep more domestic talent than the likes of Brazilian and Argentine leagues. It feels like there’s a low success rate bringing them over to Western European leagues though (with a handful of exceptions yes). Trust the club to weigh up the gamble though and to have done it’s research.

If this is the midfield move (out of so many links), then feels more ‘Brighton’ than most of the other examples.

They were just talking about him on Talk Sport (I know) and the European expert was raving about him and saying that the release clause makes him an absolute bargain.
It seems that his Dad wants another €18m on top of the fee as commission.

If this is the case, we can rule out this transfer straight away. Newcastle and Arsenal are allegedly interested, but he won’t be playing Premier League football with us if these rumours are correct.
