Amazingly the vinyl came in on the Aussie release date yesterday (a first this year for me) - just listening to it now as I ease into a very boozy Saturday ahead - sounds good on first spin, I particularly liked Porno and agree it's a likely grower. Album of the year for 2014 is going to be very hard if this does grow on me as I suspect it will with BRMC, Daft Punk, Elvis Costello & The Roots and Arctic Monkeys having all smashed it out of the ballpark as it were.....

I hear you. 2013 could be a vintage year.
The Frau is currently dancing around the lounge to (Reflektor's) Normal Person.

Also Afterlife.

Yes. This is the "Bizarre Love Triangle" track.

This album is why I love music so much. I'm a bit pissed so apologies for the gushy-ness.

I cannot get enough of that track. Problem is I am stuck in a loop at the moment from normal person to Joan of arc and I can't get out.

I can think of worse places to be stuck.

It's brilliant. I was worried that as I love 'The Suburbs' so much that I'd be closed off to a new direction, but it's won me over. They really are fantastic.

I'll be honest,I didn't know a great deal about them this time last week. In fact, bugger all. I couldn't of named you one track from them! Thought I'd find out what I've been missing out on(gotta get out of my 80s bubble). Synced Reflektor off Deezer,& bloody glad I did. This album is amazing,& I am constantly playing it. We Exist,Normal Person,It's Never Over(Hey Orpheus),Afterlife & Porno are the standout tracks for me. They remind me a bit of Talking Heads? Looking forward to hearing the earlier material... ;-)

You are in for a treat. Start where they did, with Funeral, a quite superb debut.

Cheers, looking forward to it,& the others. Never too late to discover decent music. I've watched a couple of YouTube videos by them,& the style seemed fairly different, but good on first listen. One that stood out was them performing Wake Up with Bowie. Amazing, but performed in front of an undeserving/unappreciative bunch of celebrities! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-wEBmLht5g&sns=em

I love stories like this. And yes I also hear some Talking Heads in there.

As Pogue Mahone says start with Funeral and move forward. The first two sound similar but they changed their sound with The Suburbs and then changed things again with Reflektor. The Suburbs took some time to fully appreciate but I now really rate it.

Deep into week 2 and i still have Reflektor (song) on repeat but i'm delighted to have discovered Afterlife. Thats 2out of 2 BIG hits. Very exciting. I'm almost too nervous to listen to the album (they cant keep this up!?)

Have been enjoying it but the album Obsidian by an electronic chap called Baths has absolutely blown me away. Album of the year IMO.

This track (Baths - Miasma Sky) is my favourite song of the year by a mile. Needs to be listened to loud and bassy. For those into Thom Yorke's solo stuff, Moderat/Modeselektor, stuff like that.

Genuinely jealous of you getting to listen to Funeral for the first time.

The simple answer is yes, they do keep it up on the album.

Thanks for this tip. I will definitely buy this. To reciprocate I presume you're familiar with Apparat? He's the "rat" of Moderat; Modeselektor being the "Mode". His last album (Krieg und Frieden) was a theatre score and was more drone than beats so maybe start off with his regular albums.

I've not given it a proper go yet but 'Maximalist' from his first record is one of my DJ's best friend tunes. You know, the ones that nobody knows but everybody likes.

Will make sure I listen to it this weekend.
