So you've got an excuse for not going to home games in the amazing Premier League with the amazing Coach and yet you're grilling people as to why they weren't doing a 140 mile round trip to watch a side 91st in the league.

Here's a thought. For those whinging once again, instead of organizing a boycott of the club you supposedly support, why not cancel your sky subscriptions (I'm guessing most of you have one judging by the comments).

Im not sure if anyone apart from the OP has mentioned organizing a boycott. Most others have simply said they can’t make the game at that time.

Out of curiosity what is the furthest North the club runs coaches. I live in Caterham and don't drive, previous years Nurse Gladys has driven but I can't expect her to forego a drink the whole of Boxing Day.

I checked - there is no train service scheduled for Southern on Boxing Day Sunday. Whether there will be a special dispensation for providing transport for fans, well, your guess is as good as mine. I look forward to what the club have to say regarding transport services, even if that service is somewhat limited.

P.S. The bit about no Southern trains that day was from the Trainline site. I tried Southern’s site and got nothing, I will try again and hopefully it will cough up some sort of info.

Will you be able to get a train though from Norfolk and back or Manchester and back ? No. But that was always a long shot given the fixture was scheduled for Boxing Day back in June.

And some fans were never going to want to go to a match on Boxing Day for personal reasons.

PS: I’m not suggesting it’s ideal at all especially for long distance fans but it’s wrong to insist that there will be no option to get there and back for most.

The money isnt insignifcant but obviously not as in the past. But reputation/brand is still important so I think most clubs would go some lengths to prevent boycotts.

In this case I dont really know who the boycott would be against?

The club? Probably had no say in this decision.

Sky Sports? "We're not going to the game, we're going to stay home and watch it on TV!"... bit counterproductive.

Christmas? "Jesus you ****ing hippie, ruining public transport!"

Where did I mention supporting a boycott? I'm not going to go because I will be at my friend's place as I have been every Boxing Day since our kids were old enough to amuse themselves knee deep in spirits, good food and silly games. If you want to accept 8pm Boxing Day games as the new normal knock yourself out but you're not exactly Mr Maximum Attendance yourself are you? Quite fond of a small river.

But, actually, that's the point. These days when NFL Game Pass can stream every game and make money doing it and when anyone who can install IPTV or a VPN can stream any game they want, there's literally no point in the staggered kick off times except Sky and BT keeping an unsustainable monopoly.

Ha! The NFL have two scheduled games this weekend where the home fans are probably not likely to be able to get back home in time for tea.
(And they schedule games on multiple times and days and afternoons and evenings to suit both network and cable tv just like the PL)

I do like your positivity but personally for me and the late kick off I'm totally screwed. I'm a non driver who travels home and away by train, on the odd occasion my lovely wife will drive but I can't expect her to forego Boxing Day for my love of the Albion so I'm probably both unable to attend and out of pocket as the exchange won't open.
I'm sure the club will reimburse me accordingly!

It seems that a train option is going to be a nightmare for me, so the car it has to be. Previously, for evening games, I would drive to Hove station and use the car park there, then train to Brighton and Falmer. At the time Mithras House was closed for building work. I am assuming (hoping!) that the club and Southern have negotiated a shuttle service for Brighton-Falmer-Lewes even if scheduled services are cancelled. My fall back option is the P&R. Any idea if and where there will be additional sites? I’ll be coming down the A23 rather than from Southampton for this gig so any helpful info. would be much appreciated.

The NFL have two scheduled games this weekend where the home fans are probably not likely to be able to get back home in time for tea.

Can you name me the NFL games where away fans even attend in large numbers? Let alone expect to get home the same day? It's interstate.

The worst excesses of the NFL are now here in terms of Monday and Thursday football. However, those games are rotated. The vast majority kick off at 1.05pm Eastern or between 4 and 4.25pm in the same time zone, and they are adjusted to match the time zone of the home team (i.e a West Coast team at home will normally have the later slot). NFL games are never moved to Saturday.

I can remember taking my son to Charlton for his first away game just over six years ago. Now he doesn't have enough points for anywhere because we're not taking our full allocation, but, in any case, you never know until a couple of months before whether it's 3pm Saturday or 8pm Monday which is, of course, absolutely ideal for planning if you have a teenage child (or are a young person just about paying for rent and football with a minimum wage, gig economy job). It literally is ideal if you watch half your games from your second home abroad of course.

That won’t change anything though. All of us have already lost. The reality is that many won’t be able to go because of the KO time but the finances will keep flowing regardless. I’m with you in that I see no point in moaning but the reality is that the only way of watching the game for many people will be on Sky Sports.

Maybe people have Sky Sports subscriptions to watch other sports, just a thought.

There is absolutely no advantage for an Albion ST holder to have a Sky Sports subscription to watch just Albion games if this season is anything to go by. Apart from Palace, away games have been 3pm kick off.

A few thousand Albion fans cancelling Sky Sports will be like peeing in the sea, Sky would not give a shite and there is f*** all we can do apart from moan on here or bottle things up and keep quiet.
