Looking at your avatar, do you really need to bother with all that stuff about rules?

Took my daughter for a walk along the Grand Union this morning and had good catch ups with two couples who had done just that.

One young couple bought an old tub and are re-doing from hull up - sunk about £20k so far and reckon they’ve got another £20k to go. Taken them six months to date and have been living on it through lockdown.

The other couple were more seasoned but we didn’t get to talking numbers. I showed a passing interest just out of the excitement of interacting with other human beings in 3D!

My dad - based in Evesham - looked to get one built there as a possible rehoming solution and was quoted £70-80k by the company there. Shropshire Seagull I can ask him the name if you’d like? Might be close enough for you to take a drive out and see?

Thanks Mate ....

Evesham is probably just over an hour away, there are several boat builders closer - do narrow boat sellers have chains/franchises?
Wouldn't hurt to know the name from someone who has had a good experience - I have no idea if the narrow boat trade is like the car trade - some good / honest but others who who stiff you as soon as they sussed you were not clued up.

In a similar vein [buy a mobile home], I've had thoughts of buying a narrow boat for some early retirement leisure on the inland waterways.
I know Sussex is a bit short on canals [but plenty in my neck of the woods] so has anyone else looked into this or even bought one [inc time share].
Would be interested to hear experiences ....

Get onto You Tube and have a gander at “Cruising The Cut” everything you need to know, I’m planning on buying a narrowboat in a couple of years. I’m hiring a boat in October and heading up the Shropshire Union towards Chester.

I also get a little involved in The Wey & Arun Canal restoration project here in West Sussex and dream of the day it’s open entirely again giving a potential through route from Arundel to Liverpool and onwards to Lancaster.

Sorry also worth looking at Rugby Boats, great website and he does video tours of the boats.

We should rename this thread started by you ‘Anyone else received a wannabe gangster PM from Baker Lite today?’ :lolol: Text of the message below for anyone who’s interested. I’ll post his seat number once he’s sent it.

I’m willing to have a go, sorry chat, could you pass the Seat number on. Maybe start a thread with it.
Reminds me of when Bushy requested to meet up with me.

We’ve had a motorhome for 7 or 8 years, updated to a new one last year (Dethleffs Trend). We have both been fully retired only since the end of December. We would have been wandering off to various places over the last few weeks - quite possibly North Norfolk, which we really like. We were due to be on one of our favourite campsites in Northwest Scotland mid June, going up via Northumberland, possibly the East Neuk of Fife or the Black Isle. And then back via somewhere mountainous like Braemar, or keeping west via Mull. Various parts of Europe beckon - Alsace, Burgundy, Provence, and Italy, particularly Umbria.

After all that, who knows. We have family in South Wales - Bridgend - so there and points West, particularly the Gower. We’ve never been to North Wales, and people tell us Ireland is good.

Not really, he’s been winding me up for months, thought we could have chat, if he wants to bring his mates so be it, I’ve heard he only gets handy with women.

No,it was certainly utterly disgusting behaviour by you and not unexpected at all by your type.

As I am sure you can see , I live in France. The chasse here would happily invite to 'a chat' here with your campervan.....but best to avoid the hunting season. It's the French way in the rural areas.

Papa Lazarou does.

I *think* it's a Vauxhall Van that was professionally converted and bought from a local-ish specialist. He'll be along to confirm/correct soon, I imagine!

Correct on all 3 counts.

Vivaro LWB, converted by Sussex Campervans in Mid Sussex.

Chauson 718+ on a Ford engine, really pleased with it, just not been able to use!! In the scheme of things we have our health so should be grateful for that.

Agreed and see that Landcruise sell these second hand. Do they go for the advertised price or is there much wriggle room? I'm guessing that they'll be in high demand now?
