Anyone going to become a Crawley fan for the day ?

I'm glad so many others hate them with a passion. Just imagine what it's like for us living in Horsham having to put up with them just down the road.

And let's not forget they've bought their success this season and we certainly shouldn't suddenly forget the shame they've heaped on Sussex football over the last few years with their off-field behaviour. It's so wrong that a team that has had to go into administration and has had points docked 3 seasons running is still allowed to carry on like this. It's completely unsustainable with 2000 fans max and hopefully it will end in tears.

This is a tie that every single one of us non-league fans dreams of and for me they haven't earned it. So many other clubs conduct themselves so much better and struggle to keep going and try their hardest and yet Crawley are the ones who get the plum tie. Just shows how unfair it all is!

So personally I hope they get thrashed and do something to bring more disgrace on theselves at a national level. And then I hope the money men quit and they sink quickly without trace and let those real Crawley fans who have been there for years rebuild a team they ca be proud of and call their own once again. Finally I would like to see common sense prevail and for someone to change the county boundary so they are no longer a Sussex town. Problem is I can't see Surrey wanting to accept them either!

I would urge any Brighton fan not going to Stoke to go and watch their own nearst non-league team rather than make the trip to Manchester. Show you really care about Sussex football.

I have been an Albion fan for donkeys years, a season ticket holder & have bought my season ticket at Falmer. Got my 15 year old one too.
And no he hasn't been to Old Trafford. When was the last time we played there?

How can folk hate Crawley?
There is no rivalry?

This morning Radio 5 was banging on about two Sussex clubs in the FA Cup etc etc. This is good news for both clubs & the sleeping county of Sussex in general.

So may I suggest that we look at Crawley as a younger brother?
At times an irritance but at the end of the day you love them not hate them!

Would you still be going to watch Crawley if they had drawn Sheffield Wednesday away and we had drawn someone else?

Why should we care about Crawley, just because they have got a glamour tie doesn't mean we should forget that our team is playing against a Premier League side and in the 5th round for the first time in god knows how many years and go and support someone who at any other time, we wouldn't give two hoots about.

Doesn't that give us a right to be in the 5th round draw? Or do you think that because Steve Evans was convicted of fraud at Boston 5 years ago that Crawley Town Fc and all the fans that have supported them for years and years should be punished and thrown out of this years FA Cup?

Regarding the 'money men', well Bruce Winfield and Sue Carter (the 2 owners), have been Crawley fans for longer than I can remember (I've been supporting them for 27 years). Crawley were debt free (unlike most football clubs) at our level before our FA Cup run even started, so why shouldn't the board invest money in trying to win the league? It's called ambition. Most boards are ploughing money into clubs just to keep them afloat, what's the difference? £1 is £1 whether it's spent on signing a new player or spent on paying off a 2 year old debt. The Forest Green board putting £500,000 into the club just to allow it to survive is not a story, Crawley (with no debts) spending £500,000 on players causes mass hysteria.

And fair play to the board, they've already earned £680,000 from the cup run, so they have recovered all of the transfer money already.

Evans and Raynor are never going to be best friends with any of the Crawley fans, but we'd all admit that they have put a pretty decent side together, albeit with the backing of the board to spend money. But it's easy to buy players, harder to turn them into a winning team which they seem to have done.

The gamble has certainly paid off in terms of money, no doubt about that but I would refute the suggestion that they have had to turn the players into a winning team. That's not exactly hard given the calibre of players bought, many of which could easily play in the league.

I just hope that when it all ends in a few years time and the club is on it's knees that they won't have alienated so many people that no one gives a damn about them anymore. There is a way to behave and present yourselves in public and I think it's pretty obvious from most people's reaction that Crawley don't appear to have made many friends over the last few years. I don't think there will be too many people will sympathies when it does all go wrong. At least you will be able to go down your favoured route of administration again, clear the debts and start again with a new cash injection!

Having supported Crawley since 1984, most of that time being in the Southern League, this is a fairytale come true. Hopefully we'll take 10,000 fans up there, no doubt get stuffed 5 or 6-0, have a great weekend, and the club will be £1m better off for it.

Not looking like there's going to be a Brighton v Crawley draw though, I think our slim chance of reaching the q-f relied on us drawing Leyton Orient at home! Still, I think we'll settle for Old Trafford.

10,000 fans eh? 8,000 of whom will never have seen Crawley play a league game.

Respect to you personally as a lifelong fan, but the rest of the Noddy day trippers (normally found on a Saturday in County Mall wearing Chelsea and Arsenal shirts) from Broadfield and Bewbush who will miraculously emerge for the occasion waving giant foam hands and asking if Crawley are the ones in red can do one as far as I'm concerned.

To be fair, as per the conversation I had at the crawley v grimsby game , a decent cup run is what crawley needs to bring the fans together and increase attendances for league games. Imo this cup run could not of come at a better time for ctfc. They will take 9k to old trafford and every single league game will now benefit as attendences will increase in their remaining conference games and their league games next year. Thank god for us moving to the amex, if this happened 5 years ago we would of been impacted.
