According, to a bit of research I've just done you've been slightly lucky when it comes to hitting 2s. The best starter word apparently should give you a 2 in 6.5% 6.5% of games.

I think my average of 3.98 shows that this luck evens itself out!

I do stick with the same starter word now, after flirting with a few different words in the early days. If my starter ever comes up as a 1, I’ll retire it and use another.

Disagree, my starter word often gives me a great opportunity of getting two or three but when there are 2,3,4 options with one letter how can any starter word be better than another. It's pure luck and I am STICKING to that opinion

I switched my starter word when it gave me my first and only 1. I've now found out that that word (my old starter) gives the statistically greatest possibility of getting a 2, which explains why my 2 percentage has dropped in recent months.

Bakero has explained some of his logic before and I have formed the view he knows what he’s on about - he’s also been a consistently good scorer.
I am perplexed though by some others’ talent for selecting the right option - there are also some who only seem to post when they have good scores! I’m in the warts and all club!
I’m also surprised that so many seem to have so many 2’s! In over 250 games I have only six 2’s - my average has been between 3.8 and 3.9 for about a hundred years. I’m clearly not learning the lessons others are as some posters have made such an improvement in their average over the last few months.
I think I’ll just accept my inadequacies and continue to enjoy wordling(on the whole!)

After guess 3, the last 4 letters were in place so it just needed the first letter. The 3 most common ones had been eliminated in earlier guesses leaving one clear option. Has to be a good omen.
