Woolworths must be sh*tting themselves!

Don't forget AMEX are not only a credit card company. They are also one of the 3 largest business travel companies in the world.

Didn't Amex just agree an extended lease and get planning permission for an extended HQ in Brighton? I'm sure it was in the Argus last month.

I think they are condensing down to just a few offices they are in Telecom House Preston Road and the big building opposite Waitrose in Bugs Hole both these may go and the remaining staff sent to Edward Street!!

It's probably only those movers and shakers at the top of the financial tree that would be privvy to such whispers, I'd imagine.

Oh.
wouldn't it have been funnier and more condescending to have quoted the 'Anyone else heard the rumours bit???:D

They mentioned it on the Breakfast News a few minutes ago, it appears that they are looking to make reductions in staff across the World, no indication where they might be yet...they did mention that the European Headquarters is based in Brighton, not sure the relevance of that comment.

Indeed, I'd changed it before you even posted this. It's the way quote works, you see, it doesn't actually quote the thread title without some manual intervention.

Don't think they have planning permission yet but they want to build new offices behind Amex House where the Sports and Social club was. Most redundancies at management level. Knew my lack of ambition would pay off one day.

6000 jobs going isn't all that bad as Amex is a global company and these losses will be worldwide , most of those who will be going will be managerial grades. BT expects to cull about the same number of jobs after a profits warning was issued earlier today so expect even more offshoring when trying to make contact with BT in the near future and your call ends up in India.

It's 7000 not 6000. 10% of workforce.

What do you mean lack of ambition. More like lack of talent
