[Albion] Anyone else feeling FLAT ?

I'm feeling flat, I was flat before the match, flat during it, flat after it... I am a little worried I'm giving way less of a toss these days... I rarely get excited when we win, draw or on the other side of the coin get too bothered when we lose... Maybe I've mellowed...? or maybe I'm finding top level football, VAR, the vast amounts of sickening money/corruption ruining the game all too much.

I've most definitely lost my footballing highs and lows.

In truth I suspect my heart isn't really in it anymore, and I never thought I'd feel like this - especially now, with the club financially secure, the football the best in my lifetime etc. I guess, for whatever reason, I'm jaded. I really only bother for my son who is at the stage of football dominating all his waking thoughts...

Last nights game sums up my emotions really, meh, meh and meh... beyond that, I no longer get excited by new signings expecting them to leave if they prove successful and the subject of supporter vitriol if they don't set the world alight... which all seems counter intuitive in the extreme... I'm less engaged than ever, and (as I say) I can't place why ?

I think this will be the first year I fail to see us 'live' as the Newcastle experience really is SHIT, although technically I saw us in preseason... But I've no desire to see us play, which given our potential to actually win something is (again) at odds with my usual disposition.

I keep wondering if it's more to do with the 'invisible' ceiling we've reached and the sneaking suspicion that 6-10th is the best it will ever be, with a sobering revolving door of talent coming and going as the money clubs circle... Maybe, maybe not...

Then again - perhaps I'm being over analytical and this lack of fire is more about me, and my jaded 40 something view of the world, and far less about the Albion per say... hmmmmm.

Anyone else feel like they're staring into the dying embers of a once roaring fire ?

Nope.
Sorry you're feeling like that.
But absolutely not

Nope. Loving every minute of being an Albion fans days.

Constantly find myself counting the days until the next fixture, and rewatching highlights of previous games. Every game is pure excitement to me even when we don't get the result we want, or play particularly well (the latter is especially rare).

In fact, it's probably my favourite season ever so far, all things considered.

What's the opposite of flat?

Got to your stage about 5yrs ago tbh, after years of getting way too emotional about football. Just couldn't be bothered with it anymore. Great to see Albion doing well, and I will watch them on TV occasionally, but spend my Saturdays and evenings doing far more enjoyable things these days.
Went to the B'mouth game earlier in the year and was bored stiff - even though Albion won 4-1 (? I think)

Wow! Disappointed at 6th to 10th!?! Notwithstanding the rather dull/frustrating experience last night, I think most recognise that our current position is unbelievably positive. I really hope we don’t suffer the delusions of grandeur that Charlton did when they got rid of Curbs.
Hopefully you can recalibrate and just enjoy the amazing quality of football on offer most of the time. 😊

I'm sorry you feel that way.

I feel flat in the sense of we've just had a pretty average game, and everything fells that bit more miserable in January anyway, but not overall. The Marseille home game just before Christmas was an incredibly special night, and knowing we have more to come is amaing.

I bet everyone will feel a whole lot better about life if the sun comes out a week Saturday and we absolutely batter Palace.

So did I fella, but I put it down to the January blues and to top that it was a Monday and a bloody full moon.
(I always feel odd on a full moon)
"lots of moany stuff"
ok

more than likely that is what life does to you when the full moon blues strike.

Nah, you just need a spark, maybe Feb 3rd could be that ignition you need.

Yes, but just due to that performance (I thought Wolves were far more composed, exciting, had a superior gameplan) and the result.

A 2-0 Albion win and I wouldn't feel that way.

I thought all along that we'd finish about 10th, so I'm not down about Europe 2024/25 being imho unlikely. My way of thinking doesn't lead to downers if we come short of the 6th to possibly 4th that many on NSC thought very doable back in August/September. In addition I predicted that Chelsea without midweek football may well end up higher than us. West Ham, Villa, Spurs have spent vastly more than us on fees and wages, in the end that usually counts.

To anyone feeling flat, is this because your belief that 4th to 6th beckoned, is looking a hard ask?

I seem to recall that you have a particular fondness for prog rock. Perhaps this song encapsulates your feelings in verse...as long as you haven't lost your mojo for music too ....

Given that this is by far the greatest team in our history, now punching at a level that was unimaginable even 3 years ago, I would venture its not BHA you have fallen out of love with. Its just football.

I have no idea how you can't enjoy watching this current team play. So for whatever reason, you just don't really like football any more. Maybe you've simply grown out of it.

I felt flat coming away from the game but not before. The game its self was a major let down as I can't believe the difference in approach from us last night compared with the Spurs home game. However, that's football.

I do have to remind myself that Milner is not Mitoma and Bouanotte is not March etc. I also have to remind myself that not so long ago I was coming away from home defeats against Stockport and Bradford etc.

I am sure a nice cup win at Sheffield will sort out the mojo.
