Really far away games I travel to on my own as my mates dont go.

I quite like going to watch Brighton play coz although they have always been my kinda second team, you see the game for the entertainment value and dont get the nerves involved with your primary team. Also you enjoy both teams attacking not just one so double the value.

I have 3 or 4 fellow Saints fans in the area all of which have been pretty useless in watching the saints recently. Went to the Wigan game on my own and the Man Utd game with my 3 year old daughter. Theres something about going on your own. Just turning up when you want and often sitting where you want when its not sold out. At St Marys there has always generally been a corner of the ground that has not many people in, so I go there and put my feet up with a coffee on my right hand seat and a yorkie on my left.

Indeed. Also quite funny realising what a strange bunch footy fans are, especially when screaming mentally at the linesman for putting his flag up when indeed the attacker was 2 yards offside.

I've always preferred going to matches on my own. I like being able to roll in at any time I want to (usually 2pm for saturday games to have a read of the programme) and be free to do as I wish. That said, I went to a few matches last season with other people and it is a nice change to be with someone. I went with a girl who had only been to one previous football match ever, which was when she was dating a Gillingham youth teamer who was on the bench and she was in the stand alone.

I don't really think about it now though, because you might be alone on the way there and back home again but you're certainly not alone when you get there. I love my East Stand people. We all know each other by sight, we have a natter and we're well established now. I moved about a bit last season and maybe only saw 15 games in my actual ST seat, and thought it was the same all over the place. Not in the south, obviously, but when I sat up in the West it was like a big club and I liked that.

Even going back to the Withdean days, all the older Gents around me were always there early as I was and we'd have a good natter about all things Brighton and Hove Albion and I really enjoyed that. It's different if you're not able to be a season ticket holder, but if you are then I don't really think you are alone.

i enjoy the company of others but also enjoy travelling to away games on my own. I find I quite like my own company.

When travelling on my own by train I tend to wear the colours and always seem to strike up conversations with fellow football fans. Living in the west country, they're not always Albion fans, but we all enjoy talking about the game, regardless of which colours we decide to nail to our mast.

For years I went to withdean on my own as my football mates moved away, lost interest, started supporting chelsea. Would go a few games a season with mates. Now go with CWWW jr and meet up with a lot of these that drifted away (wankers).

Very unfortunately I can not go to many games now for various reasons. Living in Plymouth is a handicap for travelling and Plymouth, Yeovil, Exeter, Torquay, and Bristol Rovers are no longer in our league.
But, before I moved down here, I had loads of money, no kid, the wife had a fully expensed BMW 330 and I was in the middle of a great network of motorways ( I was in Ascot )
For 7 years I went to almost every away game, weekend and midweek,on my own. I could leave at 8 o clock and be in places like Blackpool, Burnley, Grimsby in 3 hours.
I really enjoyed the drive up listening to sport on the radio and then the results and a live game.
Of course, games at Reading, Wycombe, Brentford etc were a breeze, but doing it on my own was never a problem, I even managed to get booted out at Brentford once.
Really miss it all now especially with the AMEX, but I will see you at Bristol City ON MY OWN.
