Im starting to get into fishing, i have never done it before but need a hobby, my GF has brought me all the stuff as a gift, as things have been a bit tough, but i really dunno were to go, the rod she has got me can be used for Sea and lake fishing, but i not sure on the areas to go. My partners Archery coach is a keen fisherman and his going to show me the ropes, but just wondering if there are any others on here.:D

I know there are groups things on here im in one for golf but not sure if there is a fishing group on here.

Given your stance on lively football matches, are you sure that you fancy bloodsports?

Only joking! I do a fair bit of sea and trout angling. PM me if you fancy a go sometime.

brighton marina is not all that, only really good for mackeral in the summer on the short arm and they charge you per rod to go there, seaford beaches are pretty good for flatties and bass, around the tide mills area. eastbourne serves up some quality fishing during the winter months around langney point, some great cod have been hauled up there, and in the summer months dover sole a plenty, thats behind the sewage treatment works. inside shoreham harbour is good to for flatty bashing, after this blow it will be a great time to get out there....but watch out there's going to be a lot of seaweed floating about....fishermans nightmare!!! also you can get the sea angler magazine from the newsagents that is 1 quality fishing magazine, hope you find this reply of help...

I get out sea fishing as often as my hectic life allows me. Shoreham arm is good for beginners as its safe and easy to access. Places like Newhaven east arm, Normans bay, Dungeness and Selsey Bill are all autumn winter venues with plenty of good species.

Brace yourself for a lot of wasted time but some magic moments too ! Although dissed previously, don't write off Brighton Marina, you don't have to cast far and you can talk to other anglers and get pointers and tips. Don't start by beach fishing, that way lies madness and dissapointment. You need to be able to fish and cast comfortably before banging it out off the beach.

Sea fishing is a full on experience if you dig your own bait collect your own peeler crabs and make your own rigs. It has its own special language too as regards fish names and methods.

anyone here know what a Spikey is ?

The last two weeks, i've been down on the rock pools catching prawns ( Told it was good bait for bass) Tried the Brighton marina and Newhaven arm and not a bite. Nice to watch the world go by though.

i found a dead dog fish on seaford beach when i went for a walk with the missus dogs the other week, is a strange looking fish, kind of looks shark like.

Im looking forward to it, i see people fishing near Newhaven port all the time but i dont think i have ever seen anyone catch anything
