Ah, but when filleted and lightly grilled and drizzled with a hint of lemon juice and sprinkled with a little salt, were they not the best Mackerel you have EVER tasted ? ...... Then tell that to a Carp angler who has to put his fish back.
Oh yes, and the garfish (don't ever be put off by those green bones, folks) tasted even more wonderful.

Bakesy has been known to have a DABble, EEL be putting his heart and SOLE into it in the coming weeks, BIG BASS time and hopefully see some Coddies this autumn/winter.

It's time we met up for another fishing session fella it's been quite a while, I've got a new rod I've been eager to try out but the weather and weed have put paid to that at the moment. I'm happy to fish anywhere as long as it's got easy access and I can park my car close to the beach.

I get out sea fishing as often as my hectic life allows me. Shoreham arm is good for beginners as its safe and easy to access. Places like Newhaven east arm, Normans bay, Dungeness and Selsey Bill are all autumn winter venues with plenty of good species.

I dont know if you've fished Shoreham Arm recently but you have to pay to fish the west arm now, It all came about because the port authority threatened to close the west arm because of the mess and anti social behaviour so a couple of people have taken over responsibility for the fishing on the west arm but as a consequence you now have to pay to fish it to cover they're wages for being there all day. It's only £3 for a 12 hr session with 1 rod and an extra £1 for each additional rod you use so it's not too bad and I understand the arm is being kept a lot cleaner since they took over, They've also got a small hut there where you can buy bait and small items of tackle as well. The down side to it is it's only being done on a 4 month trial and if it does'nt work out then the port authority are going to fence the west arm off and that will be the end of the fishing there for good.

I love a bit of fishing but I refute animal cruelty claims. The fish feel no pain as once I pull them out of the water I smash their heads on a rock and they are put out of their misery straight away.

3/4 of the way down Southwick Arm (that's the east arm) casting into the harbour, red rag (nothing else especially not lug, absolutely useless) ..flatties, gurnard, sole after dark, bass (not huge but Ok)
Same place with squid some stonking black bream this year
Kingston Beach - red rag again, more flatties, bass (best I've had nearly 5lb) grey mullet
Behind the Church of the Good Shepherd in Shoreham is great for smoothhounds after dark if you can be bothered to locate the peeler crab (or pay through the nose for it!)
For some strange reason I've always thought fishing off the hot pipe is cheating and the fish taste of SEWAGE (irrational I know..)

bloody hell, I knew about the charges but i hadn't heard that! If they do it will be because some 'anglers' don't give a shit about the place (no pun inteneded) and leave so much stinking rubbish about the place makes Selhurst Park look pristine by comparision......playing into the hands of the Port Authority who want to stop us fishing anywhere on their 'property'

Its animal abuse.

What if I were to catch cats by sticking catfood on the end of a hook? Oh, but its ok because I would throw it back once I'd caught it...Yeah?

Monsters.
