Still in Brighton
Wrong type of player for this league and this team who, understandably, has his own priorities re personal fitness over being a team player. Shame as the loan had so much potential, or did it? Somewhat predictable with hindsight an' all.

It’s a difficult decision now - do we give him a run of games to get fully match fit again in the hope his quality will come with time and he can help fire us into Europe again? Or - do we say it’s now better to give our own players time and experience on the pitch in preparation for next season?

I think I’m more inclined to go with the former as another European adventure is a realistic goal.

Webster and Steele must be loving this thread.

That said a triple boooooooooooooooing is rare, even for fans as poor as us.
The run in could be more exciting than I thought.

That was horrible. Desperately needed the ball, let's try a half arsed flying back heel. It's the way he just shrugs and walks off that gets me. And how phenomenally weak he is. Its like watching a kid try and play with adults. Buonanotte can't be much bigger and yet he's solid as a rock and doesn't get cowed by bigger boys.

Hes got 'seeing his lucrative days out in Saudi or Turkey' written all over him.
If he doesn’t come good again I think he’s already in his most lucrative days tbh

Falmer, soon...
I'm going to buck the trend and say that I thought that was his best performance for us last night. It didn't feel like the team were carrying him as has been the case previously or that he was getting in the way and disrupting the flow of our attacks. Tactically, positionally he was better.
Yes, he lacks a bit of aggression/work rate and is let down by technique at times but I saw more than I've seen so far and he does do things which no one else does - both good and bad.
The challenge is that he needs a lot of sustained coaching and games at a high level and he's not yet at the level we need. He needs another season with us and then I think we'd really see that there is a game-changing player in there. If we could make the transfer permanent on lower wages, I'd persevere, I just don't think it's likely.

Never let common sense get in the way of a good boooooooooooooooing.

Ten games left including Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Chelsea and United. We’re probably one or two injuries away from going into them with a bunch of reserve / U21s.

We’re basically going to have to play whoever’s fit:shrug:
Yeah, needs must in the end but I'd rather we tried to give Barco bedding in time and have him on the bench rather than the other way round.

Hadn’t worked out and we have been patient.

Not a fan of the lack of effort, shrugs and body language which to me doesn’t show commitment to us. I feel like he is protecting himself for next season.

He won’t be here next season anyway

BBB was more effective in his cameos I feel.

We should look to play without him for the final 10 games but I fear RDZ will play him simply out of respect

He turned down an astronomical figure in not going to Saudi according to his brother. It never crossed his mind he said just to go down the money road.

Wouldn't have said it was his best performance but agree with much of the sentiment of this. There is a player in there that needs coaxing/coaching out, its just whether we have the patience to do it given the astronomical wages. Reminds me a bit of when Enciso & Buonanotte first appeared, flashes of skill but looks lightweight. With Mitoma looking likely to depart it might be wise to persevere if we can strike a deal that works.

WTF Barca saw to hang a one billion euro release clause round his neck I really don't know.

It concerns me that he does seem to have "a touch of the Akpoms" about him.

Were it not for our shortage of resources, I'd be advocating sticking him on the first plane home. Whatever it is we are paying towards his wages, he isn't worth it.

Almost never passes forwards. gets the ball and looks to get rid of as quick as possible.
Really ? He was one of the only one really trying to drive towards compared to Adingra constantly running into a dead end or Ferguson falling over / fouling players.

😂😂 ridiculous. You’re only saying that because he’s a loan player, we have plenty of our ‘own’ deadwood in the team at the moment

Agree with you on Ferguson....Highly rated and scored a few goals earlier in season. Did nothing last night. From where I was watching Fati did one run forward which came to nothing.

If he wasn't a loan signing, and hadn't had the Barcelona background, I think we'd be happy with the contribution that a 21-year-old had made, with potential for improvement.

Yes it's disappointing that he's not the world-beater that we hoped he would be, but he clearly has talent, is young, and will likely have a successful career in the top leagues.

If the money was right I'd be happy if we signed him permanently.

Yes, criticising a player means it’s a boooing

Maybe you could answer the question of what he did yesterday (bar one cross and a shot from distance) that made you think he’s worth all the money we’re spending on him? I’ve not seen anyone give any specifics. I’d love to be shown some evidence so I can reassess but nothings forthcoming.

He was by no means atrocious, he just did very little and, yet again, wouldn’t follow orders and hold his position out wide which got him a bollocking from the coaching team.

For the money we have paid, he should be contributing so much more.
