This criticism of A F is what I garnered from RZB’s response to Johnny Cantor’s question on the pre match press conference, RZB remarked how he expects maximum effort in every match and also every training session, not 80% or 20% prior to a game. What I found quite damning was Roberto’s final remark when he said he (RDZ) had only one problem

Clearly talented, but perhaps not in the PL.

His best games have been Europe IMO, where you get more space.

In the PL it is faster and more physical, and at the moment he is struggling.
However, that said we have to be mindful that he is coming back from injury, and the context behind his loan, which of course is to get fitter following a quite serious knee injury.

You have to question why a lightweight player coming back from injury would choose/be chosen to play in a faster and more physical league....
Anyways, a few Europa League goals and all can be forgiven!

Did RDZ actually name AF? Why would he play someone only giving 20%?

No bloom said himself he thought fati was expensive....bloom by definition doesnt sign players that he thinks are too expensive.
On a different tack, are you off to Rome? If so, have a brilliant time. I'm sure you will

I can totally see why RDZ wanted him. He’s been schooled on possession football and flair and systemic football since he was a small child. However, he came with a huge injury risk.

The latest one hasn’t been kind to him and he’s playing like he doesn’t want another one, rather than he wants to give 100%

I said to my son in the second half that Fati’s at risk of being that player who was world class at 16 and playing for Peterborough at 25.

Your comment about him playing like he doesn’t want to get another injury absolutely sums it up for me.

I’m gutted it hasn’t worked out for him here, but if he was consistently in-form and consistently fit then he’d never have been an option to come here.

It was a gamble that I was very keen on at the time, so I have to swallow the fact that it’s not worked.

Where's this come from?

Agreed, I'd like to see the quote from Bloom rather than third hand hearsay.

I can't comment on "Bloom didn't want him".

However, his signing was certainly very unusual for Albion (from a financial perspective). The reporting at the time stated that RDZ called Fati five times to persuade him to come. Bloom himself made it clear how influential RDZ had been in the player signing for Albion - see this post for details.

Thanks... I'd missed those posts 👍. Five phone calls, blimey ... Ansu didn't bite his hand off then 😏

Think you'll find we paid a sizeable loan fee and a percentage of his six figure wages !
I thought it was just wages wasn't it.
Agree, that's a lot of dosh, but as many have pointed out signing Pedro cost nearly the same amount per year, plus wages.

He's only started twice in the EPL. It seems he was signed to bolster the Europa challenge. He's started 4 games in the Europa and has two goals and an assist. Before he was injured, him and Adringa looked fantastic together. I don't understand anybody writing off his signing. There's still almost three months left and he has the ability to help us in clinch moments.
