What a class video. That’s a seriously intense session that - can see why we’re so good just from that imo. Bang bang bang no mistakes.
I love RDZ (and Maldera?,) shouting ‘touch, pass!’ repeatedly on the passing exercises - I’ve noticed in matches some of our more recent additions still need to acquire this skill - especially useful when playing out from the back and when trying to penetrate a low block..

Lamptey putting the cone back - well discipline at its best 😂

I noticed that too! Very sweet or severe OCD 🤣

Yep you’re spot on. It’s technical beyond most of our imaginations. So clever now football - especially in the biggest league in the world…

So the latest (probably bollocks) rumour is some form of swap deal with Barcelona for Mitoma and Fati. Leaving aside any financial considerations, would this work for us?

Yes. Especially as we have this Osman character.

But let’s not leave the financial considerations to one side.

Firstly, we’d not break our salary ceiling for Ansu. A possible way of getting round this is for us to sign him on a free with Barca paying off his contract to 2027. This could be the difference between what we’d pay and what Barca pay him now (£50k pw?) for the duration of his contract. So in effect he gets a £7m - £8m lump sum from Barca to leave.

Secondly, we’re then obliged to sell Mitoma at an agreed very low price. If Mitoma’s agent is on a percentage of a fee, that could be a problem. Like the vast majority of ALL footballers, a move to Barca would sadly be very attractive to Karou so he’d surely make his agent find a way to get it done.

Having signed Fati on a free, we get him back to world class level and sell in for £80m+ when he gets to Karou’s age now. Simples.

All good points and finances usually decide everything in the end. I was thinking purely from a football/team perspective, would we be happy if the deals could be done?

Yes.

Having watched Adingra last night, he needs to be starting every game for us. That is a problem with a fit Mitoma and March. I’d love to keep Karou but I realise that he is the one that has a very high value and is likely to go this summer. That is our system now.

My only reservation is that I’d really like a left footed right winger to come in and back March up. Having signed Osman, I suspect I’m going to have to wait until Mazilu is ready.

What's happened to wonderkid Fati to make Barcelona suddenly not want him?

We will also have to take into account Mitoma's commercial value to the Club. There's a huge following from Japan in terms of matchday tickets, shirts.......etc. It's just not transfer fees / salaries but our brand and global appeal. Mitoma will be a massive loss in this respect, far more than Fati.

I think so. But when has any club ever actually done a swap deal?

Adingra is very good, but Mitoma (on his day) is the epitome of unplayable.
His 'days' aren't that often though now. Teams double and even triple up on him, and there are very few players in the world who can cope with that. It would be a shame to lose him but he is 27 in May, he's approaching 'now or never' territory for his move to a massive club. Not many really big clubs will sign wingers when they get too close to 30.

Yes, you'd think so wouldn't you? However the thread I've linked to below tells you that the club's merchandising and ability to exploit commercial opportunities like that is currently ....um .... 'not quite what it should be'.
