Players 21 or under who have been with the club for 2 seasons can play without needing to be registered in the 25 man list.

So it would be pointless to register someone instead of Solly as the homegrown players we have otherwise don't need to be registered at all.

We can also only make a maximum of 3 additions/changes, so adding one and swapping two.
I’ll take your superior knowledge on this! May sound silly but is there not another homegrown player who’s joined us but not been here 2 years that could replace him? Or is it literally a choice of Solly or Solly…? Confusing…!

It's just Solly.

We can only add 3 players to the squad, assuming that wanting to get Moder and Enciso into the squad is two of the changes, we’d have to drop someone to make that happen. If Barco stays he could well be the third change, but we’d have to drop a second player to get all three in the squad.

However we cannot replace Solly, he needs to be replaced by a club trained player. That is different to a an association trained player (known as home grown player in the Premier League squad). Replacing Solly would be our third change and we’d be naming a player who doesn’t need to be named, and one of Barco, Enciso and Moder would also have to miss out.

We can't remove Solly as we need 4 players registered who were developed at the club and we currently have 4.

We can however add Enciso as the 25th player, can then also remove 2 players and add Moder and Barco if we want him for Europe.
I'm obviously not keeping up because I thought there was just a HGP rule of maximum 8. Or is that only PL rule, and EL rule is different?

Rules are slightly different for UEFA competitions.

You can name a squad of up to 25 players

17 unreserved places that can go to any player

8 places are reserved for HGPs that must be split as follows

4 places for club trained players (to qualify a player has to have been registered with the club for at least 3 years between their 15th and 21st birthdays)

4 places for locally trained/association trained players (to qualify a player has to have been registered with the club from the same association for at least 3 years between their 15th and 21st birthdays).

You can name more than 4 of each category of HGPs (I believe we had 4 club trained and 7 association trained players in our named squad).

Players born after January 1st 2002 don’t need to be named in the squad providing they’ve played for the club for an uninterrupted period of 2 years.

Blimey. Here's me thinking we can just name a squad and go for it.

Makes sense tho, stops the bigger clubs from buying the best 25 players and fielding them.

Milner needs to have a word with this lot
This was my reaction when I saw it. Then I remembered how f***ing freezing I was when I walked the dog this morning. Then I wondered what that would feel like if I was born in Guinea-Bissau, and then spent half my life in Barcelona. It must be the equivalent of it being about -30c for us.

I'm surprised he doesn't just flat out refuse to train.

Enciso for solly then ? Actually maybe not as Enciso not homegrown. I guess we could do Enciso for lamptey who appears as Ghanaian ? Although he must be homegrown as well and harsh to dump. Which just leaves dahoud who already has 4 appearances under his belt.
or enciso for Dahoud

What a class video. That’s a seriously intense session that - can see why we’re so good just from that imo. Bang bang bang no mistakes.

I love watching these training video's, it does give you an idea of just how good all of these guys are. Peupion for example, miles away form being a regular player for us and yet his touch is exquisite.
