Reports that Gavi has sustained a serious long term injury at Barca. Isn't he the lad that was keeping Fati out of the team?

Wonder if they might try to recall Fati in January?

The loan is until 30 June 2024 so there’s unlikely to be a recall.

I'm not aware of a recall clause. It was definitely presented as a 'season-long loan'.
Yep, season-long loan and wages agreed (any early release would have to be under a new agreement by both sides)

Lovely snippet from Ornstein

Close to zero chance for this to happen.

Some reports we will try to sign Lo Celso on loan from Spurs in January. But more likely just give a chance to one of the kids from the B team.

They’re very different players and play in different positions so not linked.

Lamine Yamal is the 16 year old who has broken through this season and plays further forward if that is who you mean?

Didn't we recall Mac Allister early in exchange for a fee? Maybe we can let Barca recall him early in exchange for, let's say, £20 million in compensation?

Apologies, someone a few posts above has pointed out that I am getting Gavi confused with Yamal their other 'wonderkid'.

It's confusing now isn't it? They had a recent crop of Puig, Pedri and Gavi which I always get muddled up. One of them went to play for LA Galaxy and I can never remember which it was, just had to Google it yesterday for something actually (it was Riqui Puig that went to Galaxy)

Any recall clause has to be included in the original loan agreement, it cannot be added retrospectively in January. Obviously the recall can only take place during a transfer window.

I doubt we agreed to a recall clause if we are covering a majority of his wages. Besides which they needed him off the payroll for the season so they could register other players, that doesn’t change in January even if they have injuries because they can de-register an injured player that easily.

There is an option that Barca could cancel the loan but that would require agreements from all 3 parties and I can’t see us agreeing to cancelling the loan mid season, not without financial compensation from Barca and they really aren’t in a position to do that. Even if that happens he wouldn’t be able to play for them until the next window opens as his registration can’t be transferred outside of the window and again it still doesn’t change the registration problems they faced which is part of the reason they needed to offload him for the season.

So in short I really don’t think we’ve got much to worry about Barca recalling Fati in January as they can’t afford to for reasons outlined above.

What a lovely post.

When you think what that poor lad, Fati, has been through in the past few years: devastating injuries; being sidelined as a consequence by Barca and losing what was a prodigious start to his career; it is absolutely heartwarming to see how well he has fit into the team and obviously enjoying his time with us. So proud of the Club and our established players that they create such a welcoming and supportive environment for young lads coming into the side even if it is ‘just on loan’.

Yes, that is exactly what I was saying - the loan contract would have to be effectively ‘frustrated’ and a whole new contract agreed (an Agreement is a contract!) - it couldn’t be done as an amendment or add on to the existing contract - there was no call back clause included.

Any legal contract between parties BTW can be brought to an end if both/all parties agree to be released from the contract or indeed if a contract is fatally breached or frustrated (ie circumstance has made it impossible to continue with the contract)

I happen to have some working knowledge of contract law!

Again, exactly what I have said in a previous post

Again what I said in my post above - the agreement is to pay wages for the season

I wasn’t worried - it was other posters that were going on about him being recalled - it was a clumsy attempt at putting people’s mind at rest. 👍

The only concern I have is whether we were looking to just cover Enciso who was predicted to be back in January so we might not have been too worried about post January.

We just have to enjoy what we have when we have them
