I've lived in Huddersfield and down here and can confirm that living in Huddersfield is a hell of a lot cheaper than down here. Our house was fully paid up - no mortgage but to please the missus we moved back down here and I had to take out a 25 year mortgage to get another 3 bed house exactly the same size as we had up there.
Vet's fees, builders, plumbers, bus fares etc are all cheaper up there. A lot of people in Huddersfield also commute to Leeds where the wages are slightly better than the local ones.
I also took a slight wage cut to be able to do my same job.

You wouldn't catch me commuting to Leeds stuck on that train like sardines in the morning. Leeds isn't much cheaper than Brigton though.

Bus fares aren't that much cheaper it's now 90p from mine to town should i get the bus it waa sonly a £1 in Brighton last time i got the bus.

£1.70!!!!!!!!

I've been away to long

Went to Sheffield the other week and had a decent meal in a good restuarant in the City for just £9 each so i suppose it's cheaper for that sort of thing.

People down south don't realise though that by all commuting that is what has pushed the house prices up so they have no one to blame but themselves.

f***ing hell, do you ever stop talking utter shite ? I suppose I can say Southerners who move north become ignorant and its their fault for going there. No, actually they go there as they're not clever enough to make a decent living here.

When my wife moved up north in the seventies it was because her first husband was from Yorkshire and the houses were double the price 3K up ther and 6K down here.

We did it because we new someone would pay us rent of £600 a month for a one bedroom flat in lewes double the mortgage costs on it- we could buy a 3 bed semi with garage for than 80k and my partner could stay at home and look after our son ( which is what she wanted) and we don't have to break our backs trying to pay nursery fees and never see him. Therefore a far better quality of life. If that makes me stupid then fair enough.

If you were say between 20 nd 30 on an avergae wage in Brighton wanting to start a family would you then think it was such a great place to live?

By the way i think the pubs in Brighton cannnot be beaten by any other town/city in the country.

FFS i finally make my first trip of the season to see the lads at the Withers 500 mile round trip ( against my better judgement i hasten to add) thinking all will be rosy that it will be a bumper crowd on the back of a good run - and what frigging happens we have at least 5000 home fans and you could hear a pin drop FFS. the team unispired by this and pretty poor - we take only 500 roughly away but make ten times as much noise the previous few away games. One of my mates i went with gets told to shut up when he starts having a go at those around him for moaning the minute a pass was misplaced.

You can blame the ground, the facilities whatever but those who watch us at home are a frigging disgrace no passion whatsoever i can't even understand why they waste money on a season ticket for teh involvement they have. Roll on Donny FFS let's get soem passion behind the the lads they can't do it all without us - yet people moan that players won't come here after saturday evidence i'm not bloody surprised.

Blame DK, Blame the manager, Blame the players, blame Withdean - But to be honest the crowd were crap is embarrassed to be their it was os different from the games at Hudds, Bradford etc absolutely shocking if you don't get behind the lads you should hang you heads in shame.

Let's see some proper support at Donny next week.

Unfortuanately for the boys, I and my 2 mates who are both Sussex based won't be wasting ot cash time and effort bothering the the Withers again - someone needs to sort our so called supporters out and soon.

I 'll be back off up the M1 tonight and to be honest i'll be glad to leave behind the lack of passion shown by a supposedly well supported club. BHA fc GREAT SUPPORTERS YOUR HAVING A FCUKING LAUGH.

I felt proud to be a Brighton fan yesterday so f*** off !

Anyone that wants to live up north is a tit. The weather's shitter, the food's shit, the people talk with stupid accents and most pubs look like Phoenix Nights.

I'd rather live abroad than live up North. If its a lot cheaper than living down here, you have to ask yourself why.

If that's not narrow minded i don't know what is.

I grew up in Worthing and really can't say it's much better than Huddersfield - more wealth there and less immigrants has got to be good but other than that is it really all that different.

I think London is a dump- personal opinion, in the same way i don't like Manchester much either. Where as i like Ledds and Sheffield, especially Sheffield for some reason couldn't even really tell you why but first time i went there i just liked it. Some of London is alright and maybe i've just never got it - but i just don't like the place. Yes it does have some great points but it has in my opinion a lot more shit ones.

Leeds is quite good, I'll give you that.

London has its bad points, its f***ing expensive, not just cost of living but property. Commuting in rush hour is also a pain in the arse and the Tube isn't as good as it should be.

However, there is simply a lot more to do here than most other places. Every area is like a town itself, so whatever you're into there is something for everyone. It is pretty big and some people dont like that but big means more to offer.

The variety of shops, bars/pubs, restaurants and clubs is pretty amazing really. Nowhere is that hard to get to either what with the tube and the night buses as well.

The football is really good here. How many cities can boast as many teams as London has ?

I dont see myself living here for the rest of my life but as a young person it is an awesome place to live, and the good points far outweigh the bad ones.

I did work in London for 3 months when i worked for NTl based in Lewisham probably not the best advert for London - TUbe wa sgood but i soon got fed up dragging around on it for a night out - suppose i was used to just wandering into town when i was in Worthing.

Had some good nights out around Fulham/chelsea, Hammersmith Palais , Islington, Clapham the beirodroem was a favourite just found it hard work once the novelty had worn off- suppose you like it or you don't.

Got amate that works up there in the city used to live up there and loved it got married and the missus made him move to Surrey he still misses it.......

Its actually quite good. f***ing rough outside the centre in a lot of parts, but the centre itself is quite good. A fair few gigs, both in the centre and at the NEC. A fair few restaturants and Broad Strret which is one long road of bars and clubs. Bullring is huge shopping area which is pretty good as well.

Not the most cultured of places though, and the accent is bollocks.
