Yes, but not Joe O'Carrol [sp], who we had last year.

But if O'Cearuill is the level of player are allow out to League One, then I'd rather not bother.

Shouldn't we be starting with identifying PERMANENT signings, rather than loans? I'd have hoped that last season taught us to only use loans to plug the gaps we cannot otherwise fill. Starting out the recruitment campaign looking at loans does sound like building your house on foundations of sand.

Nothing wrong with season-long loans of decent players, like Puncheon [Plymouth to MK Dons] or Lansbury [Arsenal to Scunthorpe].

That's the key of course, we need them to be decent. Skillful youngster, who have "potential" just don't pay off very regularly IMHO.

I just would have thought this was the time of the year, with clubs releasing players, and others selling for any money they can raise, that we actually sign some players that belong to us.

Didn't we have an Icelandic midfielder from Arsenal once as well?

Can't remember his name.

Valur Gislasson. He was even more shit than any of the players we had at Gillingham at the time...and that is saying something. Possibly the worst loan player ever apart from Ashley Neal.

My heart sank as I read the word 'loan' as early as May!!1 Would rather we concentrate on permanent signings at this time and build for the long term, leaving loans for much later on during next season ,IF we need them. Our chances of signing an Arsenal starlet on a permanent basis must surely be zilch!

At least the club is not sitting back this summer. Its good to see the club already thinking about next seasons play-off push.

Don't agree...The loan players we got toward the end of the season kept us up! Owusu, Andrew, Dicker & Borrowdale were fantastic because they had something to prove. In addition, Bradley Johnson & Kevin Thornton done well for us.

The biggest problem isn't the loan players it's the type of loan player... if we're serious about pushing on next year, then we've got to get in players with something to prove. There is so much talent at clubs like Arsenal or Man United who just want to play and make a name for themselves before returning to their parent clubs...Look at Defoe and Milner when they went to Bournemouth & Swindon respectively...Young players with a point to prove.

I've no problem with loan players just so long as they still have something to play for and aren't Robbie Savage's coming toward the end of the career!

Loan players arent a problem if they are to fill a gap left by an injury, suspension or loss of form of your own player. It is when we start building our team around a loan player, is where the biggest problem lies.

That was Adams way out, and it didnt work as we are in loads of cup competitions, which players werent allowed to play in, and we had to change the starting 11 every game without fail. 41 players = incosistency = disaster of a season

Slade pretty much picked the same team no matter what the previous result was the game before and a team spirit grew and we stayed up

Could be Rene Steer a left back who played on trial with us last season and went on loan to Gillingham. ?

dont see why people have a problem with a loan, if its for the whole season isnt it the same as a one year deal? agree with above few comments, its about the quality and attitude of the loan player.

Take your point to a certain extent, but I personally don't think we should be thinking about loan players at this time...as I posted earlier, leave it for later if we need them.Anyway what is the real advantage to the club to play 'starlets' we have no realistic chances of signing permanently, even if they do play for a whole season! No help to the long term aims of the club IMHO.:shootself

So much moaning, christ its only one maybe two loan players being talked about, the permanent signings will come but you need a squad and if a couple of good quality loanees make us better then I'm all for it. I'm sure Slade (and Knight) know what they are doing

There is nothing wrong in getting a high quality loan player in to help us up the league. I seem to remember that Paul McShane played his heart out for us - surely we have not forgotten that goal at Selhurst?

we will need a fill in left back until Macca is ready to come back then we will need said loan player as back up...particularly if he might be able to drop into other positions as well

It's not gonna happen (good Arsenal loanees)so let's not get our knickers in a twist, it's Dick's regular little close season joke. You know like Kanchelskis on NSC
