Loan players, YIPPEE!!! The season is not over and we are already thinking about loan players for next term.

Albion & England forever.

Thimble Keegan
Rustington BHA

To get anybody from a Premiership club it will have to be a loan like we did a few years ago with a young lad called Martin Keown, the Championship one and Div 1 player would possibly be a permanant signing at least I would hope so.

I also think a long term/season long loan is not as bad as a short term one.

A short term loanee will come in knowing he'll get starts, not worrying about his place, won't care about the long term impact of results on the team, if he comes in at the end he isn't to blame for the team's previous failings so will argue any relegation etc was set before he joined.

A season long loan is there for the whole year, he is part of the start of the season, so if it results in a relegation he was part of it, he can't argue the rot had set in before he got there. He also will have realise the results today feed in to the league at the end of the season, so will want to do the best he can now for the long run.

Some names that have been mentioned previously:

Championship - Jason Price Doncaster
League 1 - Steve Middleton Southend.

Wouldnt have thought the player mentioned in that article was Price, as said we were talking to a Championship club.... Price has been released by Doncaster has he not... so would be dealing directly with him ( well his agent )

Knight said: “We have a good relationship with Arsenal.

“"

So good that the only decent loanee we've had was Steve Sidwell, who'd played for Coppell at Brentford the season before anyway.

Turienzo was also a Brady recommendation.

Holding your breath, waiting on a reasonable player coming here from Arsenal, is likely to kill you

Or maybe DK was talking about a social relationship rather than a footballing one

if we sign mildenhall or whatever we r in TROUBLE

just ask a southend fan. worst keeper they have seen in their lifetime.
/QUOTE]

They would say that because Flahaven was held in the same esteem by them as FDM is by some of our supporters.

Mildenhall is big, brave and certainly did Yeovil well and kept us at bay a number of times.

Not very recent, most of them, but;

you're really going to count Keown and Dickov?. fact is every season last ten years we hear about the "great relationship" yet we see very little evidence of it. I think more players get loaned to Brentford, i note Sidwell had a spell there before us. i think the relationship should be qualified as good socially.

And I hasten to say it but the quality at Arsenal has got alot, lot better in recent times

What since the days of Keown and Dickov when they did the double under George Graham, I dont think so they are no better now comparatively. Unfortunately DK was not chairman in those days.

did you see the Chelsea game last season. Best player on the pitch. He was also very highly regarded at yeovil and Grimsby, he's good.

It's been pretty good for years, it's just the players that they've let us have have not been of a very good quality and as far as I'm aware never actually made it at a level above us...except Sidwell and as said before that was more to do with Coppell than Knight.

Yet EVERY year we hear about this special relationship..load of bollocks on the playing side imo. *hopes to be proved wrong very shortly*
