Albion are tracking members of the side which clinched silverware for Arsenal yesterday.

Chairman Dick Knight and manager Russell Slade watched Arsenal under-18s beat Spurs 1-0 at White Hart Lane in the Premier Academy League play-off.

They are looking to bring at least one of the talented young Gunners south on a long-term loan arrangement, ideally for the full season.

Former Albion boss Liam Brady is now academy director at Arsenal while ex-Seagulls defender Steve Gatting is a youth coach with the Gunners.

Knight said: “We have a good relationship with Arsenal.

“We have identified a couple of Arsenal boys we have very much got our eyes on and we are looking to move quickly.”

Asked about further signings, Knight said: “We have started talks with a Championship club and another club in our division and we are identifying initial targets. We have hit the ground running"

Steve Gatting's at Arsenal? I didn't know that. I always liked him. I remember walking to The Goldstone one evening, realising Gatt was walking in front of me. I was in awe of the long leather coat he was wearing (I was about 15)!

That was my initial thought. I seem to remember that Brady said we could have some players (on loan), once we are in the Championship - this was a few years ago though.

Time will tell.

Rhys murphy is arsenal under 18's he comes from lancing , maybe it could be him?

Murphy would be immense, he's a striker and one of the best up and coming youngsters at the gooners, 6,3 and big, scores a lot in the reserves. Would be a coup.

Would love one of Lansbury or Barazite (on loan with Scunthorpe and Derby respectively last season). Or Mark Randall. All very competent central midfielders. Whether they'd be willing to come to us, I don't know. And we may be after a more experienced attacking midfielder to go alongside Dicker in the centre. Either way it's good to hear we've apparently "hit the ground running"!

Well DK is quoted as saying..

“We have identified a couple of Arsenal boys we have very much got our eyes on and we are looking to move quickly.”

We may not get them both, we may not want them both, it may be an either/or thing.

Just saying we may need to identify more than one arsenal player if we're trying to guess what DK/RS are looking for.

A left back? No idea who their left back is but that would be the one position that springs out as a possible loan move
