Love the way we all assume it's a done deed and Lua Lua is on his way here. There's almost a "could do better than him" arrogance creeping in I feel. Hope Gus doesn't have a couple of defeats and a draw in the 1st 3 games..expectations are already getting a little out of hand and the season is just under a month away.

I had a large concern that Lua Lua has problems with injurys because of his amazing pace. Seemed to suffer with his hamstring last year and was quite ofter pulling up looking uncomfortable.

I don't think we will get Lua Lua again unfortunately.

Agree about the arrogance though. It started soon after Gus took over and has snow balled. Gus and Tony have bought a wave of optimism to the club which we can only be grateful for. However it does bring with it the smug, cockiness of some fans as recently shown in this Greer signing saga, and a belief that we will be promotion certanties this year.

I also fear that a bad start will lead to grumbling in the crowd from the usual few which then spreads to others. and before we know it we turn into the equivalent of the England National team, all expectation and no substance.

But crossing is the only thing he's better than Lua-Lua at.
Lua-Lua's crossing isn't exactly bad, but as i said before it WILL improve

LuaLua is INCREDIBLE to watch. He is the first player since Zamora who, when he has the ball, gets me on the edge of my seat. He may even do this more so than Zamora. His pace is electrifying.

I would be delighted if we sign him.

Lua Lua's pace is ridiculous. Absolutely, insanely ridiculous.
If we could get him on a season-long deal and he stays fit, he will rip this division apart. I will CREAM myself if Gus gets him here on a long-term loan, maybe even till Christmas with a further option to extend in the New Year.

The lad is pure BOX OFFICE

Spot on. He might not have the best end product but anyone saying they don't want us to re-sign Lua Lua can't have gone to many games at the back end of last season IMO...

EXACTLY. I do not care if his end product is not brilliant, this is league f***ing one football, Lua Lua at full sprint in this league is the best you are going to get by far.

A few of them did , because he normally beats his man with ease and just smashes it into the area. This thread isn't called " What do we think of Lua Lua " its about if we think Monkhouse would be a good signing or not.

I'd take that over the customary Albion left winger tactic of running to in line with the edge of the box, before cutting back onto the favourite right foot before swinging an easy cross for the keeper at an angle. Now THAT, never worked.

Anyone who would rather have Andy Monkhouse than Kazenga needs their head checked.
Firstly, his crossing isn't THAT bad. Secondly, because of his incredible pace he gets a lot more opportunites to cross than your average League One trundler. Even if those crosses don't result in goals they will usually result in something, a throw in, a corner, getting the ball back somewhere around the box. When you've got someone who is beating their fullback literally every time it puts you on the front foot, as does having someone who can take the ball from your own defensive third to the oppositions in SECONDS. Having someone so exciting to watch inevitably helps the atmosphere too.

On the other hand you have Andy Monkhouse.
