Oh c'mon, the whole of the Barcelona team would struggle on a cold winter's night at Bolton Wanderers. Bolton would murder them! :jester:

Anyone watching Bolton at any time of the year would also struggle.

Andy Gray played in the long ball days and has not noticed that Spain won the world cup and the european cup without "an outlet". He doesn't understand that passing the ball is effective football (see that we are top of the third division despite huddersfield, saints and the rest have spent much more). English "football people" like Andy Gray, Graham Taylor and Micky Adams are the reason why England have been crap at football for the last 30 years.

Messi is probably the best player i have seen play against us, Andy Gray is after David Pleat the biggest c##t to commentate against us.

I kind of agree with the statement, not that he'd struggle but he just wouldn't be as successful as in la liga. Ronaldo's record over there is far better than he was at man u and this is after reports say he is becoming more of a team player? However I have no doubt he'd tear apart the likes of Zat Knight etc, who is a starting cb for the 6th team? in the premier league.

Andy Gray seems to be suggesting Messi wouldn't be able to go away to a cold, unfriendly ground in the middle of winter and do the business. If the Scottish twat cast his mind back less than a year to 10th December 2009 he might recall a Champions League match with Messi scoring an 86th minute winner vs Dynamo Kiev on a freezing night in the Ukraine.

I think for Andy Gray this is more about promoting the Premiership to Sky subscribers than it is about Messi himself. Gray's done very well for himself over the last 19 years perpetuating the myth that the Premier League produces God-like players who play liquid football when all it is is the old Division 1 with a few foreign mercenaries paid for by the millions of some multinational oligarch.

He might have a point though, many South Americans have struggled here - think Forlan. Messi would probably cry about the weather.
