Where's the evidence the prem is stronger than La Liga? A middling La Liga club easily beat a middling prem club in the Europa cup final last season.

Messi would be an immediate hit in the Premier League.

Just because La Liga is more or less a two team league does not make it weaker in depth than our three or four team league.

Putting it the other way around then, how would a middling Prem team like, say, Blackburn or Stoke get on in La Liga? Would they be up challenging for the title? This is a genuine question btw, I don't get to watch Spanish football so have no real idea what the standard is like outside the Barce/Real duopoly.

Hmmm. Interesting spin on that one Robdinho... I have watched a bit of Spanish football and some of the lower ranked teams in La Liga are dire. I would guess that your Stokes and Blackburns would be regular top 10's. If you really want a laugh then watch some of their second league. Not just for the football but for the refereeing decisions as well... We are talking laugh out loud stuff... Just think of what we have to put with then triple it !!!

What an absolute buffoon. Messi would be unbelievable in the Prem or any league and Gray would spunk all over him.

He certainly did spunk over SUZANNE DANDO

And also slamming at La Liga by stating that the Spanish league does not have the same depth of quality as the English one, and Messi only being able to score so easily because of the lack of quality.

Andy Gray has caused quite a move around the world by stating those words and everybody is talking about it in corners of all over the planet. And just before ending his criticism he said that C.Ronaldo wouldn’t be in the place he is today if it wasn’t for the English Football.

Quite apart from Grays ludicrous "analysis", what the hell kind of two-bob pigeon english is this supposed to be ? Is this the "Football News" website for Kazakhstan or something ?

Lionel Messi is a fantastic player and I disagree with Andy Gray, he could play in any league in the world. But I understand where he's coming from, the styles of football in England and in Spain are completely different. Techincally and physically, we play a different game to the Spanish. I think I'm right in saying Messi hadn't scored against English opposition before destroying Arsenal at the Camp Nou last season?

I like Andy Gray, and think he's the best pundit in English football. But we disagree on this issue.

It doesn't say anywhere in that article that Gray deems Messi not good enough for the Premier League. A singular quote of him struggling on a cold Tuesday night at the Brittania and lets face it Lionel would against Shawcross, Faye, Huth and co physical style of play. I hope Andy sues the website for libel as the accusation is clearly unfounded and this sort of sloppy journalism really irks me.

Isn't that just a desperately tired old cliché though ?
Messi is probably the most superemely talented footballer on the planet right now. The theory that he can't play somewhere cold when someone is trying to kick him out of the game is frankly laughable. Ronaldo flourished over here and absolutely took the piss out of teams like Stoke and Bolton in the winter as well as the sunny August afternoons, so why would that be beyond the likes of Messi ?

Gray used to be alright, but he's disappeared up his own arse these days, since they gave him control of the bridge of the Starship Enterprise on monday nights.

I'm afraid my patience with Andy Gray finally ran out in the Champions League a couple of years ago when he described, incredulously and gushing to the watching nation, that Fiorentina "wern't just beating Liverpool, they're beating a Premier League side !"

A collective rolling of eyes and a "oh DO f*** off Gray" echoed round the room I was in that night.

Where's the evidence the prem is stronger than La Liga.

Quite. In fact, to the contrary, if memory serves me correctly in the past decade La Liga has provided 4 Champions League winners, and the league has also provided the European and World Champions. La Liga seems pretty strong to me.

After watching messi many times i can safely say playing in the prem would be a doddle for messi. The man is very very strong and this so called physical league is bollocks as la liga is very simular.

Players are always trying to chop him down:D

agree, messi is so hard to push off the ball. people seem to think the prem has 7ft centre backs and the la liga has lightweight centre backs. the 2 league are very much the same but this year real madrid and barca are miles ahead of the rest. If barca and madrid were in the prem they would be 10 points atleast ubove man utd.

there was a video on youtube of messi getting the shit kicked out of him by various la liga defenders, and he always just seemed to get on with it, often just skilling the f*** away from them and they pathetically attempted to hack away at his legs

he's not some weedy little kid

oh- and he's f***ing AMAZING...i'm sure he'd be fine, but at the end of the day he won't leave barca (who would?) so there's no point discussing it
