Morally wrong for us to pay those wages with what is going on. Take welbeck on a free. What's the worst that can happen.

Im not sure Welbeck would demand any less money...

If Brighton (or anyone else) offered to take Ayew on loan, just paying 75% or so of his wages, I think they would bite the hand off. The economic situation in Swansea is not just "poor", it is desperate. If they dont sell Rodon today or tomorrow they are ****ed, and I'm sure they would like to get rid off Ayew as well despite him being the best player with quite some margin.

I dont think there will be any striker incoming but I'd say Ayew is more likely than the other options if it happened. Versatile and skilled player, not injury prone like Welbeck (or Sturridge...) and not slow and over the hill like Deeney.

Mail story updated - wages a 'stumbling block'..................

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ng-block-Swansea-stars-90-000-week-wages.html

Plenty of scope for loan to buy option... may help both clubs out too....suppose it will show between now and end of tomorrow how good our transfer strategy really has been..

Spend out on King etc.....
Get loan to buy for Ayew possibly same for Deeney
Pick up free in wellbeck

Think in the current climate a quality experienced striker would be great...if we got one for free even better!

£90,000 per week for a Championship player??? The lunatics will clearly have taken over the asylum if we start paying salaries like this to players at this level!!!

Never going to happen. I genuinely struggle to think why anyone might believe that we would pay that for a player who doesn't fit our target profile in the slightest. If Adam Lallana isn't getting anything like that money, then this guy certainly isn't.

With Welbeck’s injury record, surely the contract would be very much pay-as-you-play/performance related similar to Carroll at Newcastle.

I can’t see a lot of difference between Ayew and Izquierdo or Tau. He is not ‘something different’, just another body on the bench (and a potentially hugely expensive one at that).

This is all interesting rumour but we won't be breaking the bank for anyone.

Andre Ayew got 47 goals and 19 assists in 185 games in a top 5 league (Ligue 1) playing as a winger rather than a striker, a bag of goals and assists in the Champions League against very qualified opposition and scored 12 goals and made 5 assists in his first Premier League season (yes, his later seasons were poor but he also played for teams in shambles).

While I completely understand and partly agree with the belief that he wouldnt be a fantastic signing by any means, comparing him with Percy Tau is still ridicilous.

I think "a striker, any striker - oh ok then any vaguely attacking type player" might be our target profile right now.

....not at 90k a week though. We’re more likely to chuck Zeqiri in at the deep end

Looking at how well so many of the England U21s and U20s have moved up to full international level, there is no reason why this guy cannot raise his game for the PL.

Would rather see him get his chance until January before we commit to shedloads of Tony's cash again.

Brian Owen is alluding to needing cover for Connolly.
No mention on Ali J.

Signing Danny Welbeck on a free transfer does make some kind of sense l guess, particularly now that Glenn is missing from the dressing room, we could do with amore experienced head, and we are of course at least one short in the striker department.

Although a number 9 he has never been a prolific goalscorer though, so he should feel at home immediately!

Im not looking for an argument but your Ayew stats sounds like Ali J before we signed him which may go against signing him

I don’t think we’d be getting anything better than what we’ve got

Not being harsh, and I’m sure the lad is a decent player. But he’s 30. In the Championship. His career is on the downwards trajectory.

I would say no personally, unless he was exceptionally good value.
