Score goals and win games . . . Thats what we need and want. Otherwise, what is the point?

The only problem is, we are in the highest league in the country, playing against the other 19 best teams in the entire football pyramid. Each and every one of those 19 other teams is trying to do exactly the same thing as you/we want to do.

We are currently the 13th best team in the country on standings. Each and every single one of the teams in this division has had a higher end of league top tier position than we have in our entire history. All but one of the teams above us (Brentford) have won a major domestic or European trophy, which we never have.

The best Brighton have ever done at football was reaching one FA Cup Final, and finishing 13th in the old Division One.

If that is too abstract or historical, in real terms now - today - we have the 6th lowest player wages budget in the league. Every team that spends less than us (Burnley, Norwich, Watford, Leeds) are below us in the league table. The exception is Brentford, who are ahead of us by +2 goal difference. Every other team ahead of us spends more money (as much as seven or eight times our budget) on their team.

As you can see, in terms of the ability of our players we are actually ahead of par by two places in the league, based on this metric.

If you wished you choose another metric, let's say, net transfer spend, we could do that too. And again, be ahead of where we "should" be.

We can't expect to score enough goals and win enough games to bring League and Cup winning success, without matching the investment in wages - and to some extent transfer fees - of the other teams in the league.

I might be wrong Andone played away at Spurs in the anti football match, played his heart out broke a few times and actually looked a player, CH took him off. He was so pissed off getting subbed in that game he seemed to give up after that.

It’s unlikely to work out for him here, which is a shame. He’s Maupay on steroids when it comes to being a shithouse, but he only cost us £5 million (yes plus wages I know) and he did give us that goal against Palace so will always be a bit of a cult hero in my eyes. At least our first attempt to sign him didn’t come off or he’d have cost us Locadia and Ali J money.

If he'd cost us the money we used to buy Locadia and Ali J that would have done us a favour! One duff signing is better than three!

I don't agree with that at all his goals per minutes played and per shots taken with us are excellent.
He was just never really given the chance under Hughton, who relied almost exclusively on Muzza.

I can't be arsed to drag out the stats again but I think he only got something like 6 starts during his time with us and only once or twice played the full 90.
Never got a run of games to prove himself, but still managed 6 goals for us in something like 1200 minutes.

I'm definitely not saying he's the answer, because he isn't.

But he definitely was good enough and we wasted an opportunity by not playing him enough.

I think we do know best because you're forgetting something. Never mind debates about goal scoring merits but Andone is bat shite mental and can start a fight in an empty room. Always liable to to get red carded and and won't do much for dressing room relations.

As a footballer l do rate Florin Andone. What lets him down is his poor disciplinary record, and the way he conducts himself off the field.

Could he still have a career at the Albion? I'm on the fence on that one, possibly in the short term until at least the end of the season when we will be more likely to bring in a more proven goalscorer.
