Tau and Connolly are not the answer, just not good enough, they’ve had enough time and haven’t got there, it’s sad for them but this is the Premier League and you have to be amongst the best, they are not. Time to move them on, championship or abroad would suit them both.

Andone could probably do it, but needs a heck of a lot of man management, does Potter have it in him, does Potter want to?

Maupay is still all out of confidence, if he gets his mojo going, perhaps he could be part of it, but I’m not confident he will.

Welbeck now injured is sadly something that was expected with him, but when he is fit he is head and shoulders above anything else we have up front, and for me that’s the problem.

The club have tried to get away with it by not capitulating and going large on a striker since we got promoted, and for that we will again be one of the favourites to go down, if we do better than 17th we will have done well. I just can’t ever see us being anywhere near mid table with our current apparent transfer policy. Tony is a seasoned gambler, perhaps he’ll be lucky with one of the punts from the Austrian or Scandinavian leagues one day, until then we can enjoy a fab stadium, watching our team playing against the very best players in the world, and never forgetting where we were 11, 20, 30 years ago,

All in my opinion of course.

Spot on. Connolly is most certainly not the answer. Needs binning a-sap.

This would ruffle the feathers of that tiresome backline of tarkowski and mee and surprise them. Stop slating andone and give the guy some positive encouragement. He defo deserves another chance, and to stick it up all you hissy retards that look for anything to slag him off.

It has happened before. Andone and Maupay played the second half of Potters first game away at Watford.

They both got a goal each.

You won’t get a bigger fan of Andone than me. The question is if he’s recovered after a very lengthy spell on the sidelines.

And can he control his temper. He really struggled with that yesterday, and seemed to frustrate nearly all of his teammates. Impressive.

Last two games Andone has had Tau with him, and I dont think they are a valid partnership, not on the same wavelength. Andone needs supply and he would more of a threat with Gross and Lallana and March in the team.
Andone and Maupay up front with darting runs would run Burnleys back two ragged.

Would like to see how he does in a line-up with at least two of Trossard, Gross and Lallana................

I like Andone but if he (or Maupay or Connolly or zequiri or tau) is the best goal threat we have to start the season then expect another fight for survival.
Personally I think a large chunk of the White moneywill be spunked on a new striker. I know we haven’t done that in previous years, but we now have £50m at our disposal.
The Celtic striker (edouard?) at sub 20 mill, would do for me. He has a decent scoring record and looked dangerous a year or so back.

Striker selection will be interesting for this one.

I think we can assume they will look to defend deep with 2 banks of 4 and there won't be acres of space to run in behind. Aimless slinging it in the box is unlikely to work. 25 yard shots through the massed ranks probably won't either. We'll need patience and speed and quality of passing.

Touch, movement and low first time shooting is what we need to get the goals we need.

I'm anticipating Lallana playing just behind Maupay

Not with people who know a bit about these things we aren't!

This 100%, to be a good striker you need good service and supply.

I don’t like Burnley but they absolutely dominated us at their place last season, we were very very fortunate to get a point. This post reads like we are Man City or something.

Thought Connolly looked sharper than Andone yesterday - but who knows who will be sharpest in two weeks time!

I’ve said before I like Andone and hope he is given another chance.

But, I would start Maupay and Connolly. It’s a new season, fresh start and both have looked decent in the friendlies so far. They have also linked well in the past. Both have had their difficult second season and I’m confident they will have better season’s this.

They could be a good partnership but I'd imagine Welbeck will play when fit

And who knows who will be enjoying a 3 match suspension?

I should know better but the idea of Flozza up front rather excites me.

Really not getting all this hate for Tau has he even played 90 minutes for us?

I think I remember when you were really enthusiastic about Albion but since Potter arrived you have been a right curmudgeon

I hope you get your mojo back this season, these are halcyon days for our club, it’s a shame you can’t enjoy it given you were there in the dark days
