[Football] Ancelotti to Madrid (alternative clickbait title: Potter to Everton?)

True, but we ended up getting great football and enough results to keep us up. At least one of us is happy

What do we need to do to get you on board next season? Nothing less than top 10?

38 games of 30% possession, few shots on goal but scraping 1.0 wins?

Believe it or not that is preferable to running teams ragged but not being able to find the net to quite a few on here. Not me

The City game was EXACTLY what we are capable of now, not hoping to score a goal on the break and defend for the rest of the game and probably lose anyway. We all have different expectations I totally accept though.

TBF, it was one bloke doing that. But it's true that there's not much support for Potter going there.

Two things I don't understand: why is Moyes disliked? He did well for them last time and he's just taken West Ham from relegation candidates to touching distance of the CL. I'd have thought he was a decent choice but then I see someone say he'd rather eat his own knob than have Moyes back at the club and I realise he's not flavour of the month.
I don't imagine his knob is either!

Respect to the Geordies for getting in on the fun.

Fashion, pure and simple. Anybody who mentions Bruce in a positive way will be instantly set upon by the self-appointed trend setters.

Would I want TB to kick Potter out and bring Bruce in? No.
Do I think he's a totally cr@p manager? No.

I'm not sure he would necessarily be a good fit for Everton though - although TBH I'm not sure what is a good fit for Everton at the moment.

The second thing is the talk of the need to improve the squad. They signed Rodriguez, Allan, Doucoure. Godfrey and King last year and have spent decent money on Gomes, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Mina etc. They're not exactly shy of spending money - how many more players do they need?

There’s no overriding strategy, they flip-flop every 18 months.

- A squad costing £585m, creating £100m to £135m annual accounting losses, bankrolled by Moshiri.

- A revolving door of managers with wildly different football philosophies (Allardyce contrast to Martinez) and recruiting flavour of the month directors of football as recruitment gurus.

- They’re simply not a draw to world class players, they recruit in the levels below that, paying huge sums for and high wages to average players, naively offering very long contracts.

- Player quality .... their fans detest the lack of pace, laziness, players with relentless injuries, defensive errors, plus they face that age old EPL conundrum of not finding a prolific scorer. DCL in the last 18 months has helped, but Evertonians on the radio tonight have kindly labelled him “a good backup striker”.

Of perhaps it means he is the flavour of the month? It is not clear ???

Evertonians on TS this evening want him. Calling others who can’t forgive his former job as “petty”.

When manager of Newcastle didn’t he with some reverence touch the ‘welcome to Anfield’ sign in the tunnel before one of their fixtures?

I mean, I could let bygones be bygones, but that sort of thing would make me feel a bit

Nuno to Everton then is my guess

Nuno reportedly being linked to the Palace vacancy (Sky report).

Interesting and possibly worrying if he can access his legion of Portuguese talent. The Selhurst rebuild (and I’m not talking about the new stand) is a tough proposition for any manager though.

He is bound to feel reverential to a previous employer who paid him so much money. Evertonians shouldn’t worry about it. He will be doing the same thing to their front gate in a few years time.

Benitez or Bielsa would make me laugh. Probably both be good appointments.

That was little to do with Nuno.

That was all Mendes contacts and pull.

If Nuno leaves Wolves for palace I suddenly really want to know what happened with him at Wolves.

Previously I didn't care but you don't willingly walk away from Wolves with the intention of joining palace.

From an Athletic discussion thread on who might replace Ancelotti...

This Simon fella sounds like he should support LEEDS.

He also sounds like the kind of bloke that has a cellar full of women
