The Large One
Who's Next?
I don't know whether the club has considered this and has something in motion about it, or whether this is something that could be done by the fans or both. Or neither. But here goes anyway...
This coming season is the centenary of Brighton & Hove Albion winning the Southern League, and this gave us the right to play the Football League Champions in the Charity Shield.
What does anyone think of the idea of having a re-creation of Brighton & Hove Albion v Aston Villa at the end of next season/beginning of the following season in a friendly, but which raises money for charity? It could be the the clubs' respective first teams, or a representatives team from each club, or an Old Boys match, or even a fans' match.
If it's a fans' match, it would or could be something separate from REMF (altough there's no reason why it absolutely has to be). And if we really ask nicely, we could ask to stage it at Stanford Bridge (venue of the original match), though I suspect that may be ambitious.
What does NSC think? Do-able, or a shite idea?
