An amusing Pardew story

Did u decide to look away when Holloway pissed a huge chunk of their money up the wall last season? They've spent more than a lot of the smaller clubs in the prem (despite being the smallest of all with the worst stadium) - and on that note they've spunked a load on just making selhurst park useable - they should be much higher in the league..

I suppose at least they should be paying for the ground maintenance themselves this year and not relying on the taxpayer.

I'm pretty sure I saw a transfer league table at the end of the 13-14 season on Sky that showed Palace had spent the least on wages and transfers. I could be wrong but who spent less?

They have spent a lot on the dive that is Selhurst Park but if they hadn't got promoted they wouldn't have been able to lay under soil heating etc so my point is they've improved their infrastructure long term and playing staff as a direct result of beating Brighton. Whereas Brighton now find themselves with no money to spend at the wrong end of the Championship. So, yes, I reckon the 2 clubs futures have been influenced by that game and will continue to be so.

Why do you always continue the pretence of writing 'they' rather than 'we', when discussing Palace? What's the point?

I've no idea if it is true but the not so secret footballer did an article about such practices.

He was leaving club a for arguments sake on 40k a week. He is in the process of signing for club b on transfer deadline day for 45k a week. Out of the blue club c phone up and promise the earth (say 60k). First reaction is to drive up the motorway and ditch club b, however, his agent said thanks but no thanks.

His agent then went onto explain that if he were to do this the offer presented to him on arrival would be nearer 30k and he'd have no time to go back to club b and not wishing to go back to club a, he'd be stuck with a shit contract. Pardew may have been stitched up on a similar manner.

Pardew is from Wimbledon which is not a million miles away from Croydon and even when he was a player he always summed up Palace to me. He was typical Palace so its absolutely natural for him to go there. However for me he is a total Pikey (although well-dressed and obviously not stupid). he's a wide-boy, out to get anything he can, a del-boy in sheep's clothing but with the added aggressiveness of a Palace lout out on the lash looking for a fight. he could have been on the terraces in the seventies, shiv in hand, razor blades on the lapels.

For this reason if this story had any truth at all Pardew would've either headbutted someone and we'd all know about it or he would have told them where to shove the job.

I've not exactly gone out of my way to hide it have I? Even you noticed.

Your username isn't Palace, you've no avatar, and you make a point of referring to Palace as 'they' or 'them' rather than 'we' or 'us'. I'd say that snide is about right.

There may be some half-truth in this somewhere especially at the Newcastle end, there obviously was some kind of hitch or it would have been done a couple of days earlier.

But I suspect Pardew's base salary has still gone up from what it was ay Newcastle, where bonuses were a big part of it.

And there is no way Parish is going to f**k off the new manager from day one by screwing him to that extent. He needs Pardew onside to keep them up!

Who cares who spent less than Palace last year. It's irrelevant.

All Palace have to show for their PL year 1 money is 'sexy' cladding, and a rapidly depreciating 6 million pound asset in Gayle :lolol:

Will they invest their PL year 2 money better, or will there be pretty much nothing to show for it after relegation ( whenever that may be ).

Then we'll have the comedy of how they waste their parachute money :lolol:

they = we

Can anyone give this poster one of the Palace Gamesmaker avatars ?

...and yes, wasted. Staying up gives you nothing unless the finance is used for the long term good of the club. Will YOU waste the year 2 money as well ???

For them, it has given them at least 2 years in the PL + parachute payments when relegated. So far they have wasted the year 1 PL money with very little to show for it ( other than cladding ) in terms of long term investment in the club, although they have got another chance with the PL year 2 money.

Could you put a link up for last seasons accounts please, You have clearly seen what we have spent.

Nah, we will just wait for your next administration although anyone who lends palace any money deserves everything they get. Once was careless, twice disgraceful and a third time? Well I'd have no sympathy with anyone who would lend you a penny. You just would have to be daft to do so.

I had a beer with Pardew the other week - A bloody nice bloke I have to say. He took the time to meet up with a load of ex amateur team mates for a Christmas drink in Epsom after the West Ham game.

I get the feeling he's better liked in the game than some people seem to think.

If you put all the Nigels on your ignore list you can tell at an instant who they are because their posting doesn't show and I've got 83 of them on my list
