That application was for a change of use I think to the overall description of all the uses at the stadium. The North Stand expansion application under a separate number also stated an increase to 32,500 and was approved. The above application had other matters on it, so I would think the North Stand application in its own right approves the 32,500 capacity, even if the application you reference is refused (for other matters on it). I don't know this for certain, but that is what I would think would happen.

I don't think you are correct. Until this is passed the club cannot have attendances over 30750.

And looking at the application again, a recently added document makes it apparent why this has not yet been passed. The council's transport planner was less than convinced by the club's transport assessment.

In particular he seems a little exasperated at the low cycling take up.

And it looks like we could be getting a large bike share docking area as a result:

And maybe some more bus shelters:

The club have responded and answered some of the queries, but I presume there is an ongoing dialogue between the club and council officers about section 106 payments to fund some improvements for cyclists and pedestrians.

Interesting changing the application for use. BH2013/01356. "Community stadium with accommodation for business, educational, conference, club shop merchandise, entertainment and food and drink uses."
Doesn't mention football.

The expansion is tiny in numbers and even with significant cycling facilities you would at best double the current numbers which would still be tiny. Method of transport is largely dictated by where your fan base travels in from and we have a lot outside of Brighton and Hove.

It also annoys me that whilst the University continues to expands opposite with little or no objection the club continues to have everything it tries to do challenged and multiple hoops thrown in our way.

If they're so insistent on more people cycling they shouldn't have demanded the stadium be built in the arse end of nowheresville.

I wonder how the 6 row overhanging stand will effect the atmosphere. Louder for those underneath maybe, but the sound not travelling as much between the North and West?

Also, will the North East corner box help keep the sound in more?

Stat, this is a genuine query, but does the idea of cycling out to the stadium just not appeal as it’s a few miles out of town or because Lewes Road is pish to cycle along?

Is the North Stand overhang 6 rows? I thought it was 5, what is the South stand overhang? 4,5 or six?

I've sat in stadiums before in the seats immediately underneath a 'shelf'. Not a position I would choose; you feel oddly detached from the rest of the stadium.

I would imagine wether it improves the atmosphere or not it will surely make it a differe experience. I have been in the South east terrace near the hospitality box and it gives the whole place a homely feel.

I would imagine there's a few little reasons as to why cycling isn't popular.
After all the other options, pre Covid, aren't great, post Covid might be a different story.

Distance.
Free buses.
The perception of safety.
The path down to The Bridge CP is lethal!!

The cycle path down from Ditching to the Pier is as good as it gets and considerably better than the rest of Sussex.

If I could I would cycle, it just seems like an odd objection when considering the location of the stadium, the county wide (and some) popularity of the team and the lack of cycling provision outside of the club.
