"AMSTERDAM – Despite the best efforts of forward Mike Grella, relegation-fighters Swindon Town dropped a tough 2-1 decision at League One leaders Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The Leeds United loan item started making trouble for the hosts early, with his knockdown blistered just wide by Matt Ritchie in the opening moments. Just past the hour with the scored tied at ones, Grella went close to a potential winner by ringing the cross bar from the slot.

Brighton plucked the decider through Glenn Murray shortly thereafter to send the visitors home winless in 16 and seven points from a safety place in the table."

With the score tied at ones...................oh piss off. Oh, and now Albion winning 2-1 is merely a decision.

The Americans crack me up. I watched some LA Galaxy on ESPN the other day and every time Beckham crossed the ball they said " Beckham with the entry ball" and a cross field ball was often referred to as a "cross field surface".......Also a couple of "Landon Donovan stabilises the ball" when he controls.

Americans have a nasty habit of trying to 'improve' the English language which just makes them sound stupid. Also they don't like the word 'draw' as in their own sports they will go to overtime or extra innings to produce a winner.

However to try and change the terms used world wide in the planet's most popular sport is just ridiculous. (This a the country that has a game called 'Football' when only two players on the squad are supposed touch the ball with their foot).

I showed a clip of Soccer AM's "Boston Goals" to an American friend a few years ago and he had no idea what was so funny about the commentary! :lolol:

Just the way other people speak/write. Read or watch an Australian match report, or even an Irish or Scottish one and you'll hear/read different terminology to describe things v

Ok, another reason to hate americanisms about the beautiful game rather than Americans in general

There are some people in life that rather than laugh at a joke, they would break down the punchline with facts and logic thinking they are clever when in fact they are probably boring soul-less zombies.

I'd laugh if it was funny. But thanks so much for caring enough to point this out.
