I think i need help, im a bit confused, wright here goes.... I have been a Millwall fan for 25 years, I'm originally from Walworth, just off the Old Kent road (i expect some verbal abuse), my dad supports Millwall, most of my friends and family support Millwall, i have been a season ticket holder on and off for a good few years, stupidly along the way i got myself a couple of Millwall tattoos, now here is the problem, a few years back me and my family were living in Hastings, this was when i heard about gully's gang, so i thought i would sign my son up to become a member, he received loads off free stuff, he was over the moon, a few months later i took him along to watch the albion v Bristol rovers game, since then he has been Brighton mad, hes 5 and tells every one he supports Brighton, hes even trying to talk hes mum, grandad and me into saying we support Brighton, all my mates find it very funny that my son says he supports Brighton, so much so they ask me "how are Brighton doing", Brighton was my first away game as a kid and i loved it, the pier the whole day and since then i have always had a soft spot for Brighton but ultimately i would like my son to support the same team as me, we attended the peterborough game this season, he enjoyed it, i enjoyed too( apart from the the club shop, empty pockets), but it just wasn't the same as going along to watch the club you have supported all your life with your son, at the end of the day, its hes choice, maybe im taking things to seriously, football is important to me, am i mad for letting this happen?

Thank You For Reading This

Why are you thanking Reading. I thought you supported Millwall?

Good luck to you! It is possible for family members to support different teams - loads of them do in Liverpool, for example. Just be thankful your kid hasn't gone straight to being a plastic Manc or Chelski fan! There's nothing to stop you being happy for him when Brighton win (except of course when we are playing you).

I am proud he has choose a proper football club, if he choose man united or Chelsea i would be very disappointed.

Understand totally where you are coming from. My son started supporting Liverpool when he was young (5/6), then I gradually got him interested in the Albion. We both had season tickets at Withdean for 3-4 seasons, but then he stopped as he was pissed off with the facilities (getting cold/wet, etc). He's 17 now and Brighton through and through. Wants to go to Amex and watch games with his mates, so I'm chuffed.

If you want him to be a 'wall fan; take him to games. He'll gradually come round. It's a good bond to have to share the same team and go to games together. You'll get replies on here saying to let him choose, but would they do the same for their son, or would they try to influence.

Just my opinion like...

If I had a kid pretty much what I'd say.

If a bird every lets me knock her up I'll be brainwashing the child to support Albion from birth.

Exactly this. One of my friends has a 6 year old son with a Chelsea, Man United & Barcelona kit. Not only is he the biggest glory hunter ever but he's also bankrupting his mum!

I bet once he gets a bit older & realises what Millwall means to you & your family he'll start following them too. Nothing wrong with following your families team while supporting another

Thank you larus, i have taken him to millwall a few times but he just doesnt like it, every time i ask him to come to millwall with me, he just says no, he might change hes mind when he gets older but i doubt it.

He supports his local team, like you did growing up so hows he that different?

If I moved to f*** knows where I would go to watch the local team, in fact I did spending a couple of seasons watching Norwich and catching Albion games when back down south.

At the begining of almost every season we would settle for mid table mediocrity. It never seems to happen like that, pushing for promotion or staving off relegation is the norm.

And long may it continue.

Ok, Thanks

True but he now lives in Tonbridge, a few Brighton live in the area.

I only started supporting the Albion in my early teens when I started going to games. It didn't matter to me who other people supported and it is possible to have more than one team. My advice would be similar to others here, just see what pans out. I'd be pleased he wasn't an arsenal/chelsea/manure fan if I was you. I dont see theres a lot to worry about unless he turns into a palace or West ham fan!

he has mentioned arsenal but i try and ignore it, palace and Charlton would be totally unexceptable, west ham could mean life on the naughty step:lol:.
