Am I cruel and heartless?

Why do we call some creatures vermin, when the most damage to the planet is done by humans? ???

WE call them vermin because of the damage they do to us.
What they call us is their business, and unless you know of any more intelligent beings around, then we are the only ones aware of the damage we do to the planet.

Most creatures are worried about the damage we want to do to them, and could give a monkeys about our planetary impact.

Right now though, I could murder a sunday roast - so mice are relatively safe.

North Sea gas isn't poisonous like the old town gas used to be.

Got woken up at 4:30 this morning by a mouse trying to run off with one of my mousetraps. It was caught but not killed and was making an awful racket as it tried to get across the bathroom floor. After half an hour of staying in bed trying to ignore the noise I finally gave up and threw the mouse still in the trap outside, where it is -21C at the moment.

I'm gonna hit the sack again now while you denounce me as no better than the Nazis. :(

I thought you were a Christian minister...THOU SHALL NOT KILL

You will burn in hellfire

I used to leave cubes of cheese out to catch a mouse in a box a few years ago. I invented the trap myself, but every now and again the cheese was gone the morning after i left it. It was only after a mid-morning thought each time that i remembered that the eater of these baits was me, after a few beers of an evening and coming in ready to munch anything i could find.

Well, the mouse and i had a few giggles over that arse-up a few weeks later. We shared a few drinks, chatted about the birds that had fooled us with proposals of romance and joint bank accounts before eating us alive, talked about some cheeses we each had hidden in our bedsheets and pillowcases for birthday celebrations or newfound loves, and finished the evening with a careless whisker.

That is inspired. Possibly the best MB post I have read.

I was in charge of catching the mice in our Ecuadorean log cabin. I used to set the traps and then unset them, when everyone had gone to bed. It backfired somewhat, when we found a dead mouse, that had eaten it's way into the middle of a sack of flour. :glare: Leaving us without bread for three weeks, until the next delivery.

The Good Book says burn and sacrifice animals, and do other weird incantations over them. So cigarette companies make beagles smoke hundreds of fags a day, universities put electrodes on the brains of rabbits and cats, and monkeys are dismantled muscle by muscle in the name of science.
That's just how we sacrifice these days.

I didn't kill it, the -21c temperatures did.

Anyway, I'm sure you are aware that many a Biblical character was a mighty hunter. Me too - I'll take on as many as two mice at a time.

Winter has finally reached southern Ontario. It's warmed up a bit now but the windchill is still -16C so if any mice try it tonight they better bring their overcoats.
