The countdown has started only 19 Home League Games to go before [MENTION=33581]Tom Hark, Preston Park[/MENTION] starts a thread about deleting his ST from his phone.
Plus a special thread written with a tear in his eye, as an envelope left on his seat for the Southampton home game, contains a hand written card from PB, saying he will be missed and as a (now) former ST holder he can have a special discount off Albion+ membership.

Well, I wouldn’t be. Different opinions are what makes this board so vibrant and somewhere where I find myself spending far too much of my time. But there is, genuinely, I believe, nowhere else quite like it.

I think Potter is a really promising, bright young manager with fresh ideas and an honest outlook on his own and his team’s abilities and we’re lucky to have him at this point in his career. Doesn’t mean I can’t cope with reading the views of those who think differently and wish they’d stop posting. I quite like THPP’s ‘Arctic Benny’ schtick as I see it as the perfect antidote to those who have Potter as the next England coach or off to City to replace Pep every time we beat Watford away or roll over a woeful Man Utd.

Hopefully we are a broad enough church to accommodate both views and all those in between. Plus, I like Tom.

I (famously, infamously, at least on here?) judge the guy in charge of getting the team to play, on the results he achieves with that whole "guy in charge" thing. And, he has, to date:

- had two seasons where he really did no better than CH with a better squad
- gone a calendar year with one home win
- not beaten Palace
- had one of the worst home records and scoring records in the league, even in our best season

but also

- achieved a record points haul twice
- overhauled the playing style
- developed young players
- our best ever season as a club position wise
- scored over 50 points
- come up with some of the most innovative formations seen in the Premier League
- regularly beaten or drawn with the "big 6" and often outplayed them

It would be a pretty shit message board if all you were allowed to report was the first or second set of stats. Having some writers who focus on one or the other and others who are able to understand both is what keeps me going as a mod and keeps the site engaging, even as our most treasured regulars hit their 50s, 60s or even 70s.

Thing has just about run its course for me, will be stepping aside. BHAFC can sink or swim with or without my £. Time was when the proper fanbase made the difference. That's not the case anymore. Despite living about 3 miles from the Amex, still makes it about a 6 hour covid high-risk round trip.

Just too tired. Just can't be arsed with it anymore. Club mask regime and SASTA make it perfectly clear they don't care if we catch covid or not. ****s

The two STH next to me came to the first home game of the season last August. Never saw them again all season. Don't really give much of a shit about catching covid. Prob long overdue in my case. But guess what, all you shouty beered-up mask-free blokes on the concourses and on the trains. Guess where you and your family probably contracted covid? Oh well

You could equally catch it in the pub, at a concert or on a non football related journey on public transport. Plus anyone with kids is basically a sitting target.

Could you walk us through your 6 hour routine, just to give us an idea where you’re going so horribly wrong.

Three hours in stadium (usually get there an hour before kickoff to swerve the most packed trains and buses). Instead of the rammed 25 bus I catch the 49 which involves a bit of a walk at either end, so that's an hour to an hour and a half each way. That's the thing about the Amex, it can take a very long time to go a very short distance.

Anyway, enough about me...

I’ve been to a handful of non Albion games and haven’t really enjoyed any of them, non league you tend to talent spot rather than care who wins.

When I stop getting that Adrenaline rush when the Albion score (granted it hasn’t been that often in the last couple of seasons) will be my time to hang up the boots.

On the point of the 6 hours, I live in Lewisham and it’s about 6.5 - 7 hrs for me. My dad lives in Lindfield and it’s just over 4 hrs for him. There must be a quicker way from Preston Park.

I do have some sympathy with this.

We allocate a similar amount of time for AMEX, albeit coming from 30+ miles away.
For various reasons I no longer want drive to MR as the default, but I know I'm not going to 'enjoy' the train experience.

I'm thinking the solution is to drive to wherever the parking is allowed around Hollingbury and cycle the rest of the way.

Have you tried cycling it? Or walking over the golf course? That's how I'd do it if I was going.

Might experiment with different options this season, see if I can trim it down a bit. Don't fancy my chances on a bike. Walk over Hollingbury golf course do you mean? Never thought of that one. May explore options on foot from Hollingbury Asda, there's frequent 5B buses go up there, although annoyingly few of them carry on all the way up to the Uni
