We wore all white as a home kit for one season in 74-75. I was young then and I have never known why. Does anyone know?

Freddie Goodwin was the manager who wanted this as he had been at Leeds when they changed to all white from Blue shirts with yellow trim. Leeds thought they would do better if they looked like Real Madrid and it worked so Freddie Goodwin decided to do the same at The Albion. Unfortunately Mr Goodwin then pissed off to Birmingham City before the shirts he selected were used leaving Pat Saward to get the the blame for the horrible kit
Sorry I'm talking about the white kit worn in 1970/71 I didn't read your post properly.

Perhaps this points to a sneak preview of our away strip for next year? WILL IT FEATURE THE NEW BADGE? ???

Haven't we made the mistake of having a white away kit before? It tends not to work with a blue and white striped home kit.

In a pile of football shirts
I remember blue collar and cuffs? Wasn't it a copy of an older / original kit? Best call for Superphil!

1970 -1971 home was an all white kit, with a bit of blue trim, and 1974-1975 was all white, made by Admiral.

That's okay, thanks anyway. I had not realised that we had worn a white kit in 70/71 too. Perhaps the two are linked? I am intrigued now. Tim Carder in Seagulls! notes that the club wore white shirts in 74/75 for reasons best known to themselves, while he does not comment on the white kit in 70/71, although it seems to have come after a few seasons of the blue with white sleeves shirt.

Yep, but it is too embarassing to mention. 70/1 really.

I approve of all white as my first choice for Away colours. Albion = white.

The blue kit with white sleeves was the best kit ever worn by any team anywhere, although at the time Sheffield Wed played in much the same.

This was like Hibernian at the time. Dated now. Broad blue and white stripes (see Avatar).

This is my own design, not copying any other kit (although there would be a clash if we played Blackburn).

Dont get this.
I know it doesn't make a huge difference, but why would you change to a new kit unnecissarily, considering Orient play in Red at home, and we have a blue and white home kit.

Heres the '70-71 white and blue kit in all its glory

Freddie Goodwin thought that would get us playing like a cross between Leeds and Real Madrid, Leeds were quite good at the time, but we were rubbish. Pat Saward had us back in stripes the following season, when we did play well.

White shows up better under the lights????

This is just a misunderstanding in translation. The Leyton Cockney Advertiser interviewed Gus and asked him about our kit. He said what he always says "Ah yes. Is complicated. Is Nice"

And the lazy cockney journo translated this to mean "Yeah. I like our kit, iss wicked. Iss allwight."
