How about an "Up For A Ruck" hard man eleven :catfight:

1. Kuszszak
2. Ken Tiler
3. Harry Wilson
4. Brian Horton
5. Steve Foster
6. Dougie Rougvie
7. Hans Kray
8. Jimmy Case (capt)
9. Kevin Bremner
10. Sammy Morgan
11. Gerry Armstrong.

Not a very balanced side but they would put the fear of god into the opposition. Any I've missed ?

Ken Tiler is one of my favourite Albion right backs, but I wouldn't class him in the hard man category. And Harry Wilson? You're joking. You'd be better off with John Gregory and Chris Cattlin as fullbacks ...

Case, Horton, Wilson, Vicente

Ward, Zamora

Subs:

Kuszczak, Gregory, Ryan, Robinson, Saunders, Byrne, Gotsmanov

Of course, it's debatable whether Ward and Zamora would work as a striking pair, as I always thought Bobby Z did better as a lone striker - but it would certainly be fun finding out ...

What me in the 'hard' eleven - surely there must be some mistake? I would have put myself in the artistic ball playing 11.

If Gareth Barry can make it to today's Man City team he has to be a candidate for the all time Albion team. And, Bobby Smith was still a strong player when he came to us although it petered out pretty quickly....

When has Kuszczak been up for a ruck?

Wasn't Eric Steele up for a ruck with Gary Williams?

For the hard man 11 I agree with previous comments....Paul Clark has to be in there. Certainly a case for Oatway as well. El Abd and Justin Fashanu on the bench.

That's just about spot on. Grummitt is very underrated in Albion folklore. The back four almost picks itself. Given how combative that Case/Horton/Wilson trio would be in midfield Vicente would then slot in beautifully. My God if we had a slightly younger and fit Vicente providing the ammunition for Ward and Zamora............... The subs bench isn't shabby either.

A few other names came to mind: Corrigan, Keown, Nelson, Mortimer, Curbishley, Murray, Worthington.

I also rated Steve Penney. Watching the footage of the Albion cup win over Liverpool in '84 someone posted on here a week or two back reminded me just how sharp Penney was as a youngster against the European Champions and he delivered a great series of dangerous crosses. Unlike KLL or Buckley did in the playoffs.......

Sammy Nelson at number 10? Radical.

Unless you mean Garry Nelson ...

Absolute farce,no mention of the "football genius" or Wayne Stemp! What the hell is going on!

Well, if you're talking favourite players, that's different. Crumps would be in there every time.
