Sonny will be a legend in NZ Rugby for ever after this (more than he was already). Fabulous, spontaneous gesture. Yes, he might regret it at some point.........he might not. He's still a winner.

I know some folk have made comments about the medal going on EBay etc, but let's face it, that's highly unlikely. I don't think SBW will regret it, the medals mean far less than the memories, and where he keeps his awards he can just put that kid's smiling face where the medal would have been displayed, an example to himself of his own selfless act.

Apparently the kid's name is 'Charlie Lines'. If it wasn't being reported in mainstream media you'd say that was some sort of joke.

Just gave an opinion its the others that seem to want to keep dragging rotr into the limelight. I'm sure there are plenty of potential worthy recipients who would have been delighted to have the medal but probably not presenting the photo op! And that he could with more greatness and nobility act in such an inspiring and selfless manner could make people think about similar noble behaviours.

Second best thing about tourney was finding out that the All Blacks - by tradition - tidy up their changing rooms, and the most senior players take the lead. By God football could learn something about values from these greats...

Because if i was a fan of that team i would expect them to give blood,sweat and tears to get that medal and not hand it over to a random 15yo lout invading the playing area.

Maybe sports people give blood sweat and tears to win tournaments not to get medals. He has still won the world cup (twice) giving away the medal doesn't change that.

No, we're not. Although I once ran on a Rugby pitch at Twickenham (The Stoop)- and missed an easy penalty. I love Rugby, but I'm not the best at playing it.
