Adrian Bunting was a guiding light in the city’s arts scene. Creator of the legendary performance platform ZINCBAR, he believed passionately in the power of theatre. His play, Kemble's Riot, won Best Play at Brighton Fringe Festival 2011. Adrian was also a buildings project manager, working on the refurbishment of Brighton Dome. In April he was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. His last wish was to establish an open air theatre for the city he loved. When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he spent the last few weeks of his life realising a long held dream for a new state-of-the-art, open air theatre for Brighton, called the BOAT - Brighton Open Air Theatre.

The stalls have almost sold out, which is decent going for a late booking with almost zero publicity. Anyone else going?

Brighton
Good line up barring the UNIVERSE-sized smugness of Stewart Lee and his "hilarious" modern art comedy.

Thanks for flagging this Al.

Ade was an old mate of mine and was well known in Brighton comedy and theatre circles from the Zincbar days in the early 90's. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3 months ago and died 8 weeks later. In his remaining weeks from diagnosis he kicked this into life and the Brighton Open Air Theatre (The BOAT) will open in time for next year's festival if the funds are raised to build it. All the comics have a connection with him in various ways, I spent a very enjoyable afternoon in Edinburgh this summer drinking with him and Tim Vine who he'd known for years. He was a top man and although a life long Gooner had a soft spot for The Albion to the extent of buying 10 tickets for Albion supporting builders he was working with to come and see Brighton 'Til I Die at the Theatre Royal a couple of years ago.

See him talking about the BOAT here the week before he died.

Brilliant cause, brilliant line-up, and a brilliant bloke who will be sorely missed by everyone in comedy.
