Do we really want somebody who thinks he is better than us before he even arrives and is on record as saying he'd rather stay in the Netherlands? It's a no from me thanks, I spent all last season watching players (mostly loan) who didn't give a shit and were supposed to be quality. Actually wanting to play for Brighton is just as important as being shit hot at football imo

I have gone a bit meh on this guy. Love to be wrong and see him turn up and kiss the badge whilst telliing us how it's always been his ambition to play in England
I won't be fussed if we now don't bother with him any further though.
To be fair to him he's probably being advised by an agent who's trying to get the best price / wage at the best club. We might have ambition and infrastructure but you can't blame him for holding out for more attractive offer however much it may irritate us on here. He looks quality and I'd be delighted if he ends up here.

If the only way to get to the Premier League and a mahoosive contract is to prove yourself in the Championship, then so be it.
I'd take 1 season from a young player wanting to be seen, over 2 seasons from an older player 'stepping down in class'.
I'd have loved two seasons of Wayne Bridge!
In hindsight Reading would love to have given us the second year.
But we replaced Ward (sure that's stretching 'young' a bit far) but he only got Burnley on the strength of his performances for us, and he was a big part in us getting to the play-offs. Win - win.

No footballer under the age of 30 should have second division Brighton as the height of their ambition.
I'd be amazed if Dunk, Ince, JFC & March aren't thinking 'one day I'm going to be a Premier League player'.
So what's the difference between them and Alireza Jahanbakhsh?
He could hold up the shirt like it's a pox laden shite of a stick, for all I care.
But if he sees Brighton as his best way of getting in the Premier League, (and why wouldn't he?) why should we care where his ambitions are.

Exactly how I feel. I think we're pretty naïve if in 4 weeks time, he states that he has 'fulfilled a dream by signing for Brighton, and looks forward to helping them to the premier league'.
He has made his decision, if he has any balls he'll stick to it - good luck to him with in getting a deal with PSV or AZ. I am more interested in Murphy.
Are you 100% sure he visited th Amex ? If he did then it was possibly when the manager wasn't there. I dont think he has met with CH yet. For all those saying he ''if he doesn't wanna come here then we don't want him'' I wouldn't jump on that bandwagon just yet because i am not sure there is any substance in these so called quotes from him or his agent.
The quotes may be true but the interpretation of them could be inaccurate. The lad and his agent are sending out his CV at this point in time, so why wouldn't they doctor to suit the job they are actually applying for. After all, most of us do that.
I think the lad will be a Brighton player next year. I don't really have any basis for thinking that but I think we want him and I just think we have the manager who can sell his vision of playing in the Premiership in a year or so to him.

I understand what you are saying, and I'd love all players who make these sort of statements to come a cropper, but with agents involved, I'd say a lot these quotes will be released to move things in certain directions. I still think, if in a couple of weeks he's here, he'd still be committed to the cause.
