I take it a few other people have been dragged along to watch this by kids/wives/girlfriends or have gone of their own accord :)safeway).
Went to see it the other day with the missus and had no idea what to think. All that was going through my head was that Anne Hathaway is LUSH in 3d.
What did you reckon of it?

It was a surprisingly good film. The advert makes the film look quite dark, which it isn't. Anne Hathaway is fit, but I was annoyed by her arms always being above her head!

I, for one, cannot wait for Toy Story 3 in 3D

Watched it in 2D. I thought it was fairly good, am a fan of Burton anyway so expected a certain level of quality.

It was a bit unusual in that it was probably Burton's most "action packed" film to date (ie big epic battle, lots of CGI etc) but overally thought it was good and as per, Depp was superb, played a madman coming to terms with being mad with a disturbing level of empathy.

I don't normally like Tim Burton films but thought it was very good. It was excellent in 3D and, unlike Avatar, actually had a decent story to tell. Avatar on the otherhand was all about the effects rather than any uniquely fantastic story.

The one thing I found myself wondering, is whether Jonny Depp actually plays any normal characters. I can only remember him as Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Sweeny Todd and now the Mad Hatter.

I wouldn't mind seeing it actually. Not sure how many of my mates will be up for going to the cinema and seeing it with me though so will probably have to wait for it on Sky in 2D

Depp is excellent in Donny Brasco. Plays an FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate the mob. Thats about as normal as I can remember seeing him.

Is it just me or is 3D a bit shit?

It was good for Avatar I thought (best I'd seen). But you still have the problem of the glasses darkening the picture and distorting colours, so its like watching a film with sunglasses on. Once they bring out 3D in full (proper) colour then it'll be a lot better. That said, its still something of a gimmick - I certainly wouldn't want to watch EVERY film in 3D.

He was in Platoon too... though if you blinked you might well miss him...

I just think it's unecessary. I like my art in 2D. With decent photography you get depth with clarity (as you do with decent paintings etc). 3D just feels like a jumbled mess that detracts from the actual experience rather than adds to it.

Depp played NORMO to Leonardo Di Caprio's autistic [?] brother in 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape".

I liked that film. That is all.

I watched it last night. I've taken my son to see loads of kids films over the years and this was without doubt the best i've ever seen:thumbsup:
