I just think it's unecessary. I like my art in 2D. With decent photography you get depth with clarity (as you do with decent paintings etc). 3D just feels like a jumbled mess that detracts from the actual experience rather than adds to it.

Well, its a novelty at the moment. Did it add to my enjoyment of Avatar ? I'd have to say yes, it did. There were some genuinely startling effects at times when things were hanging over the audience, floating about. Will it REVOLUTIONISE the film industry though? I think not. New 3D effects is still no substitute for a satisfying, gripping storyline with great acting performances.

Someone mentioned Se7en earlier today. Would that be any better in 3D ? Of course not. But 3D is a fun addition for some of the outlandish sci-fi flicks.

Actually, thinking about it -Paltrow's 3D HEAD, all that FLY PAPER hanging over you, in 3D, etc. Would be GRIM.

He is in Nightmare on Elm street.

I thought the film was OK, nothing special. They got the casting pretty much spot on! Does anyone know if the voices where the same in the US Version? I know the changed some of them in Shrek.

As for 3D, Im not a massive fan... GIves me a headache. I dont think it will last.

The best 3D bit was the trailor at the start for the football and Rugby, that looked pretty good.

All films are in the 3-D, if you're watching a film in 2D you're looking at a picture

in all honesty I don't see what all the fuss is about. Went to see it Saturday night at Brighton marina. I thought the film was pretty average.
I think that avatar was amazing in 3d - good story line and amazing graphics! I must say though how shocked I was at prices. Me, my girlfriend, mum and sister went - it worked out to be £10 (price includes booking fee) which I thought was disgusting. It was £3.50 for a drink. £6.50 for a small popcorn and to add insult to it all we then had to buy the 3d glasses - something that should be included in the price! so that was another £3.20!

And the cinemas are wondering why people are downloading illegally!

It'll be a while before I go into a cinema now...day light robbery.

First time I've seen a 3D movie - I thought it was brilliant, a really enjoyable movie!! Depp completely stole the show (as normal!). Thought the girl who played Alice was a bit annoying though!!

On the ads before the movie - Toy Story 3 looks AMAZING, and how cool was football in 3D?

Price included the glasses at the Odeon. Also, why do you need to buy all that crap to watch a film, they only charge those prices for food and drink because there are so many mugs who will pay it! Popcorn, wtf, who needs it! And take a bottle of water with you, or even a bottle of Coke, if you must, it's not as if you get searched on the way in!

Enjoyed the film though, some great lines from Bonham-Carter - particularly liked "Where are my fat boys" and "I need a pig, bring me a pig"

£10 is a bit much for a film, but that was in 3d, and the 2d was cheaper. Anyway, it was still better value than the £24 to watch the Albion from the South Stand at Withers in the rain over the last few years.

You are right about the footy, cancelled Sky Sports recently and the bastards bring out 3D to hook me back again!

I have astigmatism and it was fine - although putting the 3D glasses over top of normal glasses can be somewhat uncomfortable.

Is it just me or is 3D a bit shit?

I think it depends on if the film was designed to be 3D.

Avatar was planned to be 3D, so was shot with it in mind. Alice was shot like a regular film then converted when 3D became a hit.

I thought 3D added to My Bloody Valentine and The Final Destination, but made no difference to this.

As for Alice, I thought it was an average Tim Burton film. Johnny Depp and HBC seemed to sleep walk through their parts, the girl who played alice was pretty, but seemed to lack a certain... substance, and Anne Hathaway, as lovely as she is seemed to be trying too hard to be Burton-esque.

Going to see this tomorrow, but £11 each? Blimey. I remember when I used to moan at it being a little over £5.

Really enjoyed it.

My one moan is that once you've seen 4D (thorpe park), 3D really doesn't look that impressive. I wonder when 4D blockbusters will hit our screens.

Still a good watch though.
